I like to save those magnets that places give out, like in goodie bags, you know? And then you can use a little cardboard and a picture and some glossy sealant to make those fancy picture fridge magnets. You can also cut them into shapes for bigger or weirdly shaped stuff like this.
I guess I could do a tutorial, but my apartment, it is the messy.

nice job! I've been doing these for years and about 2 years ago my MIL dropped off a bag of HUGE clear pebbles. They're bigger than a quarter! She gets them at a Target in Washington, and Ive seen them at a Super Target in the whole home decor section. I guess theyre for filling up vases and whatnot, but they're perfect.
