Appearance Isaac is about average height for a boy his age. His skin is somewhat lighter than most of his family and is often covered in bruises due to practice or just hitting anything. His skin bruises pretty easily. He is pretty thin when it comes to his build, his arms and legs being more muscly from years of practice.
Isaac has dark eyes. From afar they look grey or even black. In reality his eyes are a dull brown-greenish colour. His hair is also a very dull dark brown, being borderline black. It is styled in an undercut. His hair is very curly and soft to the touch.
Generally Isaac likes wearing T-shirts and jeans. But it is not uncommon for him to also wear button up shirts. At home he's completely different. Dressed in sweatpants and shirts that are older than he is himself. Occasionally he also spends the entire day in his pyjamas.
PersonalityChallenging I Confident I Dedicated I Energetic I Genuine I Outspoken
Isaac is generally a person who likes challenging himself. Whatever his drive may be. Another persons teasing, his own negative emotions or just sheer want. He likes trying new things and challenges himself to learn. He has a constant wish to improve himself and often goes to lengths another person might not to achieve his much desired change.
Whether this is a good trait or not, is purely decided in which situation it comes to light. This trait being Isaac's overwhelming confidence. This may clash with his negative traits, but they apply to different regions. Isaac is overly confident when it comes to him in general. He thinks he is incredibly good looking and often flirts with girls. His own confidence has gotten him in a lot of trouble before.
Like implied before, Isaac is very dedicated to what he does. This 'what he does' being volleyball. He immediately feel in love with the sport once he began and has dedicated most of his life to it. He practices every day and makes sure to not get too injured as that would make him unable to play which would just make him depressed. While it is mainly focused on volleyball this trait does extend to other things as well. Just not as much.
Surprisingly he is not very lazy. Quite the opposite. Isaac is quite energetic. He is often excited for things and moves around a lot. For instance, during practice he will always run ahead of the group, generally having more energy than his teammates. During matches as well. While he may not have as much stamina as he'd like, he can still go on for a while after he'd have to run out.
This is another trait that could be considered as both good and bad. Isaac tells people what he thinks. Whether it be good or bad. He doesn't like lying too much especially when it comes to his opinion. He is a genuine person. Like mentioned it can be considered bad, because he often doesn't hold back his negative opinion on someone and that could result in them getting hurt by his words.
Staying on the matter of his opinion. He likes to voice it. Often. He is the type of person who would hold speeches at protests. He could ramble on for hours. And quite often his opinion is considered controversial or just fits into the minority when it comes to a debate. Being outspoken has gotten him in trouble in school before since he often argued with teachers regarding his and their views on things.
Stubborn I Abrasive I Egocentric I Envious I Insecure I Irritable
When it comes to Isaac's negative traits, they show more than his positive traits. A trait of his that affects his teammates is his stubbornness. He hates doing what others tell him to do. And he loves arguing with those who do tell him what to do. Even if the other person doesn't want to continue the argument he will stop them from leaving and continue convincing them how wrong they are for trying to order him around.
Like mentioned before, Isaac is a genuine person. He says what he thinks. And rarely does he think of the consequences or how it affects others. He is quite abrasive. While he does care about others' emotions when it comes to other matters. He generally doesn't pay it too much mind when it comes to people's reactions after hearing his opinion. He doesn't like sugarcoating the truth.
He is also quite self-centred. He believes that people come to matches to see him and that he is the star of the show. And he likes feeling that way. He loves getting attention. In his own belief he lacked attention when he was younger from his family so ever since his early childhood he sought attention from others. His egocentric nature has earned him a bad reputation with some as his ways of getting attention aren't the best ways. Teasing and almost bullying others, intimidating others, getting into fights...
Isaac is well known for how easily he gets jealous. Even of the most meaningless things. It happens with his friends, family, teammates or even random people he just met. And his jealously quickly transform into envy towards the people getting the attention instead of him. He gets envious of fellow teammates as well as other setters. And his envy is one of the main things pushing him towards better himself. Or rather his skill in volleyball. He also easily lets his envy get the best of him, causing him to lash out at others.
A trait others may not associate with the egocentric, confident Isaac is that he is extremely insecure. Mostly when it comes to volleyball, as he really loves the sport. But it is not limited to volleyball alone. Throughout his life he has often felt inferior towards others, fuelling his ever growing self doubt and insecurity. He tries to cover this up with his confidence and rarely shows how afraid he actually is of being overtaken by his rivals and not being good enough for his family and friends. While it doesn't show he often spends hours upon hours thinking about how to better himself and what to do to make others stay at his side. He already experienced all of his fears. People he cares about leaving him, his rivals getting ahead of him, effectively proving to himself that he is not good enough. That is why he strives to be better every day.
While Isaac can give insults he can't take them. He is very irritable and gets quickly annoyed and even angry when people try to tease him. He also gets easily riled up when provoked. So it's a suggested that people leave him alone when he is in a bad mood because he can and will easily get extremely angry. He has gotten in a number of fights over this stupid reason.

History
Isaac was born is Madrid, Spain. His family is quite big with two brothers already being a few years old at his birth and a little sister following soon after him. That meant that his parents always had their hands full. Isaac often wanted their attention which they could not give him. Having 2 (later 4) other kids to take care of while going to work was a challenge in itself so they rarely had time for one child alone. But at the same time taking their time for only one child meant that they'd have to do the same for the other kids as well. And they simply didn't manage that. They were incredible parents, Isaac could never deny that, but his attention loving personality left him with the wish to get that lacking attention somewhere else. He often hung out with his best friend Elias and other children in the street.
A breakthrough for him was when he began playing volleyball. He himself had never been to brilliant at other sports and thus he quickly fell behind when compared to others. But with volleyball, he immediately fell in love with the sport. He loves practice as much as a match against opponents. And he was good at it. Very soon after joining he became one of the best members of the club. And so he had the attention he desired. People cheered for him in the mini volleyball matches they had against other kids his age, he constantly got praised for his skill... he loved it.
But that didn't last long. About a year after he joined a younger boy joined. That was Javier, who soon became his rival. It was obvious from the start that he had a lot of raw potential and that somewhat terrified Isaac. He began actually bullying Javier. Often messing with him during practice. While teasing him and putting him down he noticed Javier, who was oblivious to his bullying, grow into a skilled player. The spotlight which was previously on Isaac shifted onto Javier. And that lit a fire of envy, anger and fear in Isaac. He was envious of Javier for getting all the attention. Angry because he was a kid younger than him and he had just improved so much in such a short time. And afraid because he knew Javier would eventually become better than him if he didn't improve. He began practising like crazy. No longer for fun but to keep his position on the team. He became a lot more aggressive as self centred than he was before. He often spent hours staying after practice working on one move and perfecting it.
Sadly things only went downhill. Eventually Javier realised that what Isaac was doing wasn't actually encouragement and the two often argued. meanwhile Isaac's friend, Laura, began hanging out with Javier. That only caused his negative feelings towards Javier to grow. And Isaac isn't good with showing his negative emotions so he kept them locked up inside. The rare individuals who heard about his problems were Elias who tried to give him advice and support him the best he could, often trying to cheer him up with telling jokes, which Elias is horrible at and his grandparents' dog. Well, in his defence the dog is a great listener and often hugging him while talking helped him calm down. On the rare occasion he did spill his feelings it ended up with him ranting for hours and hours. Sometimes he even cried.
His inferiority complex reached its peak when he and Javier got nominated for the national U-20 team. In the end Javier was chosen. And that caused him to feel completely and utterly defeated. It had always been his goal to become a professional volleyball player and with that he could've been one step closer to achieving his dream. That caused him to envy Javier more than he had ever done. But Javier himself hadn't stayed on the team very long. He moved to Japan with his family. That left Isaac with a mix of emotions. While he hated Javier and was glad that he had left, he still sort of missed him. Heck, imagine seeing someone almost every day of your life and suddenly they leave. It will be a weird feeling. With Javier leaving Isaac got what he wanted. He became part of the national team, rising to the vice-captain position very soon upon becoming part of it. But he still didn't feel as happy as he should've. He felt like he was the second option, plan B now that Javier had left. And it did nothing to lesser his insecurities.
In his 3rd year Isaac got the chance to take part in an exchange program. You see, the school he attends is quite the prestigious one and is part of an international program that offers students the option to go to a different country for a few months to experience their culture and what school is like there. Isaac himself loves travelling and couldn't say no to that. He spoke with his parents as well as his coach. All of them gave him permission. His coach added the condition that he has to continue practising hard while he is there and come back a better player. In the end Isaac ended up choosing Japan as his destination as he had been learning Japanese for a few years (it is a challenge he had given himself).
He came to Japan around June and was to stay there until December, so 7 months. He could always return earlier if he wished. The school he became a temporary student of was Shiratorizawa and he also joined their volleyball club.
While in Japan he ended up meeting Javier again and the two rekindled their rivalry while Isaac was in Japan, often fighting with each other. But Isaac also made other acquaintances while there. While he grew quite close with his teammates at Shiratorizawa he also met other players from different teams, making some interesting friends and rivals. Relationships Javier Kobayashi ; Rivals ; Isaac, Hijo de la Puta / Javi, Little shit, Ew (yes, just ew)
The two are lifelong rivals. They met when they were quite young and immediately Isaac took up the role as Javier's bully. He would tease the boy relentlessly, often yelling insults at him when he messed up at volleyball practice. Although Javier didn't realise that Isaac was actually insulting him at first.
Isaac's whole view of Javier changed when the latter started catching up to him. His simple wish for teasing turned into envy and dislike. The feelings escalated even more when his friend, Laura, began hanging out with Javier more, seemingly cutting ties with Isaac for a while because of his behaviour. All of that built up in Isaac resulting in him disliking Javier even more. But the breaking point was when both of them were nominated for the national U-20 team and Javier was chosen instead of him.
Nowadays Isaac doesn't let his negative feelings towards Javier show as much. He still teases him relentlessly and often challenges him but he tries to hide his feelings of inferiority, instead masking them as him feeling superior to Javier and wanting to ruin his life (not really, well only partially).
Surprisingly however, the two have worked together. When they pranked Laura, even though they argued the whole time.
Laura Fuentes ; Friends ; Isaac / Laura
Isaac met Laura when he was very young. She was one of his only female friends and one of the rare people who could handle his constant begging for attention. She was and is still one of the people who can control him.
He often told Laura about his volleyball team. So she often heard about how he often bullied Javier. Laura scolded him but Isaac never really listened to her. He often told her she 'didn't understand' and that it was a 'guy's thing'. Eventually Laura started hanging out with Javier. At first Isaac pretended not to mind, but eventually Laura stopped hanging out with him completely for some time. And that is when it actually hurt him the most.
The two eventually made up and are now friends again. Isaac often teases her and sometimes tries to play pranks on her. But that hardly ever works because she figures him out before he even starts his prank.
He also may or may not have a crush on her but shhhhh he won't admit it yeeeee
Elias Ochoa ; Best friends ; Isaac, Teo, Molesto bocazas / Elias, Piedra despiadada
Elias and Isaac are childhood best friends. They have known each other for as long as they can remember. One might not have expected them to be friends seeing how opposite their personalities are. Elias being a somewhat emotionless person with a constant poker face, compared to Isaac's loud personality. But they have a lot of common interests which helped them bond.
Both of them began playing volleyball at the same time Isaac choosing to be a setter and Elias training to be a middle blocker. While others found Isaac hard to handle, they could always rely on Elias to help them keep him in check. Isaac has a certain level of respect for Elias which he doesn't have for a lot of other people so he tends to listen to him.
They often hang out, seeing as their houses are right next to each other. Their favourite thing to do is climb trees, which is unusual for their age, but the difference is that they climb much higher trees than normal. It is an often occurrence for them to visit Elias' grandparents who live outside of the city near a large forest. They are careful of course, but they have gotten injured in the past.
Now they try and talk often seeing as they are best friends, but Isaac being in Japan and Elias being back in Spain makes it harder for both of them to keep in touch. They have talked about Elias coming to Japan for a visit to see what's it like here, but for now nothing is set in stone.
Statistics
Power: 2/5
Jumping: 4/5
Stamina: 3/5
Game Sense: 4/5
Technique: 5/5
Speed: 3/5
Isaac is a well rounded player. What he lacks in power he makes up for with his skill. He is a very skilled setter. He can easily match up with almost any spiker, however, working with him isn't easy. Generally he does what he wants so giving him orders is almost useless. But seeing as he is very aware of his surroundings he usually makes the right decision.
Like mentioned before he lacks power. Hence the reason he doesn't attack often. He prefers being on the defensive side rather than the offensive. His receives are solid and he can quickly move across the court to set up a block.
