I love these needle felted creatures, but how on earth does one needle felt?

There are needles with little barbs on them. As you push the needle through a wad of wool, it pushes small amounts into and through the ball of wool. By doing this at a lot of different angles, it basically matts the wool. It's really rather stiff once it is done right, and the creatures are a bit firm, not soft and squishy. Other than that, it's not much different from sculpting. You just add more wool to build up areas to the shape you want them to be. Very interesting to work with.

There is a little info out there on needle felting, but not much. What is out there is pretty limited too. The colors are just different colored wool added where ever I want different colors. I hope to be able to do a tutorial on needle felting soon, but I have to get something produced for this upcoming art show first. So much to do, so little time to do it!

Yeah I had thought about making him into the hare in the fable the tortoise and the hare. Never got around to the tortoise though. I'm lazy.

He's (or she's, I suppose) so very lively-looking... with quite an amount of character, I'd say, too. The positioning gives rabbit a complete lack of stillness, which I think is what stands out to me so strongly. It's very, very awesomely done.
