The finished painting that was used for the examples:
The Blood I Shed For You...

Long in coming, I know. I promised this AGES ago and it's taken me over a month to actually finish. I'm sorry! But here it is, in all it's gory glory, part 2 of my blood splatter tutorial!
Fair sized file. If anyone has severe issues with downloading, please mention it. I'll shrink it down some more.

Works best in Photoshop, but you could probably get it to work in other programs as well.

And let it rain blood!

Wow... I'm really looking forward to trying this out.

Never used custom brushes before, but I'm sure I'll get the hang of it eventually.

Thanks for taking the time to make this tutorial!

I hope you have fun with it!

They take a little bit of time to get used to, but it gets easier. It wasn't until I started painting blood that I used custom brushes.

No prob! I was happy to make it.

VEry good! do you think u could make a tutorial on how to do whip marks? I'm SO bad at drawing gory stuff XD

But this was REALLY helpful!!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Mytherea In reply to Ninjustupower [2010-11-01 13:25:33 +0000 UTC]

Thank you!
I probably could. Easy verbal rundown for you though:
Basically, take a reddish colour, probably the same as the blood, and make curving marks running along the form. Then, grab your skin shadow colour and softly go around the marks, leaving a little bit of space between the shadow and the red mark. Grab your skin highlight colour (probably a little lighter than it) and colour in the space between the red mark and the shadow. Keep working at it until you end up with something that looks like a raised welt with an open wound in the center. This is for fresh whip marks.
Older whip marks will be bruised, so you'll make that welt larger and more swollen having the shadow darker and the whole welt a nasty mottled purple colour.
I don't know if that helps. If you still need help with it, I could probably throw something together.

Thanks for the help!

Mytherea In reply to manasstalker [2010-11-01 13:26:54 +0000 UTC]

Thanks! I try to make things as simple as possible. A overly complicated tutorial that doesn't make any sense isn't much of a tutorial at all in my book.
Have fun with it!

40/45? Holy smokes! I would not have the patience to paint like that. I use 60/40 and only drop it down for blending. >.> Otherwise it feels like no color is coming out of the brush. Also, you use to many layers! *complain complain complain*

Anyway I'll be using this in the next painting I'm working on (I'm not good at working on one thing at a time) Mine's a dude in a car wreck though

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Mytherea In reply to General-EbonRose [2010-10-29 15:02:48 +0000 UTC]

I have a heavy hand when I paint/draw and I like getting a nice smooth colour transition. It takes a little while, but now I've gotten used to it, I can work pretty fast with the 40/45 with my eyedropper hotkeyed, so I can pick and choose colours. The only thing I never do 40/45 for is flatting, which is 100/100 and hair or other objects I want to have a crisp line on which is 60/45. I also have a tendency to pick really extreme colours, like having a nice flat red then choosing an almost black colour to shade with, so I tend to need that lower opacity, otherwise it gets a bit too bizarre looking.

Awesome! Good luck with it!

He isn't, I just didn't want to make this a higher rating then it is (and it'd be awkward to paint with my family walking in at all hours, watching me). It's just...hidden in the random darkness there...somewhere.

Well, at least I was able to horrify you, even if it wasn't the gore that did it.
Thanks!

Blood doesn't horrify me. Lack of penises do.
