I believe this graphic is playing on the "flaws" of the drawing function in Flash. Because Flash can't draw all the dots in the function as the input value increases, it picks certain ones that fall within Flash's ability to be drawn. What we are seeing is the "skipping stones" that the program chooses to draw, if the program was really written in five lines of code.
On a side note, five lines of code could hold a whole lot if the program was calling other drawing tools to help.

A sine is a mathematical function. It describes the coordinates in a circle. It forms the perfect 'wave'.

Neat to see the emergent patterns with the high numbers and low resolution.
As critique, I think it doesn't look very good to have the number in a different font than the other text, and you probably want to align the number left so that it doesn't jump around as it adds and removes the .5. (just about everything bad I can say because you do have advanced critique enabled)

Eh... definitely has more antialias options, but the first time I dealt with moving text was wen I designed a site where the boxes that healed the content moved around. All the images in the contest moved slowly, but the text movement was very jumpy. You can set it to 'antialias for animation' but it just makes the text look horribly ugly. I don't see why it's so difficult for them...

Amazing flash, very original, 68.5 is my personal favourite, the best thing about this is that even though its simple you can play with it for hours, great work!
