There is one thing I am sure about: U.K. loves U.S. and U.S. loves U.K. Just the character, not the real countries....No offence.....

This is quite beautiful however the feeling is not accurate to the war it self. U.S. was quite happy and eager to fight the red coats and become it's own nation. U.K. was bitter about it but they at least in the begining saw it as a simple revolt to crush. After the war there was of course bitterness between the two but by what I've heard by my U.K. friends, that GB just concerned it's self with there empire and cared little about the U.S. and the U.S. was busy forming it's goverment. Even today theres abit of bitterness from Brits and pride from Americans.
We see it as a great victory, farmers and civilians fighting for freedom against the world power and winning! The British see it as abunch of traitors or rebels splitting away from there empire. At least thats what my friends say. I guess my point is, is that in your very lovely painting I don't think there should be a "bittersweet" mood to it. For us it was... well a begining of our nation! So we see it as a positive and the british see it as a bunch of assholes being cunts and splitting away from them.

This is lovely - and very bittersweet as well. It's also interesting, in my opinion, that while neither Alfred nor Arthur are my favourite characters, I still have a soft spot for this part of the story. I think it just has a way of getting to you emotionally.
