Poser, Max, Vue and PS - killer combination you could use some terragen to make some mountains in the background actually, I don't like programs that do most of the work for you, but what you did is still very creative and deserves recognition.

Amazing detail .. even in the towers in the background and the dust and everything. One thing that stands out though is that the horse's front right hoove seems to be missing. Then some smaller details are the rider's legs, which look bent oddly instead of bending with the knee and I kinda wondered where the road lead to. It seems to run into a solid wall, I think showing a (partial) gate in the wall would add a great deal to the full piece.

Great job altogether though

NAngel1298 In reply to Invaech-Levh [2005-01-23 13:05:58 +0000 UTC]

Thank you for the :Fav+, and also for the crit.... The right hoove is out of view. The angle and the fetlock just seem to block it out entirely, then trying to paint it in, it just didn't look right. The rider was a bear to manip. One thing that DAZ may wan't to consider with the Millenium horse, is morph files for the riders. The legs just don't bend that way. So what your seeing is the closest I can get with poser without painting the legs totally from scratch. Also, In several sketches, I placed in a gate, and also other horsemen, secret service if you will, and the piece became deluded, and began to look like so many sceans from so many movies.... so the road splits at the wall, and twin gates exist to the right and left of this star shaped castle. Sometimes it's not good to follow the expected path, a little diversity goes a long way

Hehe okay .. my criticism stands corrected. Interesting to know you tried it with the gate and all though, I just imagined it 'd look better but you might be right .. it is a bit 'clichΓ©'. As for the leg thing, well I 'm not familiar with poser or any other 3D software but I figured you did your best trying to make it work.

Dude that's awesome! Ever thought about doing a full blown epic battle scene? With knights and stuff... like a scene from LotR? I think you'd be able to do it.

Thanks.....Maybe when my graphics card comes in from Navidia... I still haven't got that damn thing yet. I'm sure I could do it without, but It would take 10 time the time, and probably only look half as good.... I want to do a battle i the Mines of Moria.... I have some of it modeled already.... but I am researving the final work for the graphics card.

Pray tell me, wtf did you use to make the dirt and dust kicked up by the charger so realistic? *lol* I like this a lot!

NAngel1298 In reply to switchbladeserenade [2005-01-06 21:48:13 +0000 UTC]

Thanks... I've been playing with this one for a while now. The dirt and dust kicked up by the horse were done in Photoshop 7. I just used a bug brush with a high transparency. the dirt pieces were just done with a smaller brush with no transparancy. I shaded some of the dirt particles to..... shoot that stuff was easy.... converting the stuff over to VUE 4.... that really sucked.

All 3D artists should look at your work and revere them as does a painter to Picasso...hm probabaly not a good example, I don't really like Picasso, but all the same point got across. I love this.

Lmao, well as I said, hopefully one day when I can afford the programs and education, I hope I can create work like yours.

NAngel1298 In reply to ArchDragon [2005-01-07 10:21:13 +0000 UTC]

The education part for me was just playing around with the programs.... no formal schooling... I have been working with them for a year and a half now..... as for the programs.... some modeling programs you can pick up for free as downloads from the company web sites.... they can get you started, and it's worth scrimping and saving for the main programs such as Poser, Bryce, VUE, and Photoshop..... I have no doubt you will surpass me.
