Arkien's Enkoro
To watch a horse move is like watching art in motion; to watch an Enkoro dance is like witnessing the strength and grace of the ocean bottled up in one body, creating the most magnificent thing the world has ever witnessed.

Origin
It is said that long ago there was a powerful unicorn named Arkien who lived by himself on top of the highest mountain, watching over the world. His job was to protect the souls of all equines, leading them to the heavens when they died. His spirit would travel the surface of the world in search for the souls, gathering them to bring them back to heaven. He was very lonely though as he was forbidden to befriend a mortal and as time went by he became sad and depressed. One day he stumbled upon a human rave club and he was amazed by the way they danced. Watching them made him happy for the first time in his never-ending life.
Later when he was home on the top of his mountain, he wondered why horses didn't dance. They were so strong and graceful, he knew they would do well if they could. He longed to see horses dance like the humans did: free and happy, worried about nothing. He wanted for horses to dance so badly that he used the souls of the most cheerful, fun-loving horses he could find and reincarnated them into a new breed. They were horses who could dance before they could run, who were bright colored to bring joy to those around them, and who were graceful yet powerful. When these horses came to life and he saw them dancing, he was happy… but he had used a large amount of his power in order to create them. He was dying. Longing to be able to dance with his children just once, he used the last of his energy to join them in their joyful dance of life before he fell to the ground and died, happy at last. The horses mourned over his death and wanted to name themselves in honor of the great Arkien. They decided upon the name Enkoro, which means "One Dance" to symbolize his one and only dance. And so was the beginning of Arkien's Enkoro.
Appearance:

Build:
The Enkoro are a very slim and graceful breed. They have long, thin legs and a narrow chest. Their heads have a straight profile, though can be somewhat concave. Short, strong necks are set high on the shoulders and have a slight arch to them. They have short backs and very strong, muscular hindquarters. They are average in height, usually around 15 - 16 hands, though stallions can be somewhat taller.
Uses:
Built for grace, Enkoro are extremely agile, able to turn on a dime and give nine cents change. They have beautiful movement and perfect control of their legs. They are not very fast but could do decent jumping thanks to their strong hindquarters. They were made for dancing though and so perform wonderfully in dressage and even reining, as well as dancing in general.
Of course, they also make for amazing, fun OC's.
Tail:
A notable trait about Arkien's Enkoro is that they have long unicorn or lion like tails with long, thin hair growing along the lower half and sometimes the whole appendage. Their tails are a vital part of their dancing as they provide balance when performing complicated maneuvers. Not only that, but the bright tails are a great way to add a little flash to their movements.
Color:
Arkien's Enkoro are usually a dark base color with bright stripes on their legs and a bright mane and tail. Their eyes are also bright colored and are almost always the same color as the mane and tail. Leg stripes can be one shade, two shades, or sometimes even three shades, but they can never be black. Black is almost completely off limits on the Enkoro other than the base color.
Stripes can go all the way up the leg or only half way up, but there are always stripes on at least 50% of two legs. To learn more about the colors of the breed, see the Color Guide
About Arkien's Enkoro:

Environment:
Arkien's Enkoro were born high in the mountains where the atmosphere was thin and the air cold. As they grew and spread, they learned to adapt to different weather and are quite versatile. However, some do not do well in heat, especially when working and are subject to heat exhaustion.
Health and Fitness:
These horses are very strong, especially in the hindquarters and have amazing endurance. They are sure footed, hardly ever tripping and overall just really graceful in everything they do. They are not very fast but they can run for great amounts of time without tiring as long as it's not too hot, and they are also great jumpers.Sight:
Though they are a very fit horse over all, there is one flaw that tends to run in their blood besides that of handling badly in warm weather. As many have very light manes, and therefore light eyes, it is not uncommon for their pupils to be a lot lighter too. This of course makes them very dazzling to look at to many, but it does have it's side effects at times. It is very common for Enkoro with specifically light eyes and pupils to suffer from poor vision. Few are actually blind, though complete loss of sight is far more common in the Enkoro breed than it is in others. The exact extent of their sight failure depends from individual to individual, but often the lighter the eye color and pupils, the poorer will be their sight.

Age:
They are a very healthy, fit breed. Usually they live well into their 80's. Their prime would be from 18-30. This is when they are the most active and can perform the most complicated maneuvers without injuring themselves. When around 50 they begin to slow down, though some are in great shape even then. They grow physically at about the same rate as humans. Mares usually reach their full height by about 13-15 years of age while stallions don't stop growing until well into their 19'th year.
Mares cannot bear foals until at least 16 years old. Stallions are usually able to reproduce around 13 to 15 years of age. Usually infertility begins around 45 years.
Temperament:
There is quite the variety of personalities out there among the Enkoro breed that vary from individual to individual. Most commonly though they are very fun-loving and energetic social horses. They love to be part of the crowd and have a natural desire to be in the spotlight. They are known to be hyper and a little overwhelming to others. It is also not uncommon for Enkoro to carry a form of ADD that seems to be a trait of the breed, though it can be easily controlled with medicine.
Dancing & Accessories:
As I have probably made quite apparent by now, Arkien's Enkoro were made to dance, and they love to do so. Most commonly, they love electronic music and rave dancing. They usually have a specific style of dancing they prefer (Melbourne Shuffle, Tectonic, Jump Style, etc..) but sometimes they like to make their own style. Some like a fast beat while others like something a little more 'flowy.' Whatever kind of music they like, you can bet they will start dancing when it comes on.
These horses are the kings and queens of style! Not only do they dance like ravers, but they dress like them too. Pricings, braids, bracelets, nets, and don't forget the glow sticks - they love to dress up fancy and cut their hair to look their best. In their minds, the more piercings and accessories, the better.
Living, Mating & Pairing Habits:
Enkoro do not usually live in herds but rather live either on their own or in small families of a mare and stallion as well as their foals. Sometimes older horses will live with them as well. The families of the area get together often, usually at least once a week and party, dance, and just have fun together.
When it comes to mates, Enkoro are known to be quite the Casanovas. It sort of goes along with their carefree partying type of personality. Most of them are players who just go to clubs and enjoy themselves with whoever they can find. I can't put all Enkoro in this boat though as every individual is different. Those who do decide to stray from the playboy type of lifestyle will often chose on mate for eternity. They live in small families often consisting of the two mates and their foals. Sometimes their parents will stay with them as well and help raise the foals properly.
There seem to be two main groups of Enkoro: Those who party and play all day, and then those "higher class" types who live in a small family. The players are the ones who are seen in clubs all the time, dancing, drinking, and just havin a good time with anyone they can. The others see themselves as royalty and tend to frown upon the others. There have been groups of "separatists" you could say who avoid the more outgoing Enkoro all together and refuse to mingle with them. They believe that they are the most important and often are very big on purity and rarity as well.
Communication:
Enkoro have a very high intelligence and communicate verbally and through body language with others of their kind. As well as the usual signs that other horses use to communicate (ears, eyes, position), Enkoro use their tails excessively in communicating what they are feeling. Often their tail is seen held low behind them with the end hovering just above the ground. This is the typical, relaxed position. When they are scared or frightened the tail is likely to be wrapped around their back legs and/or tucked underneath them. When uncomfortable, nervous, or irritated the end of the tail can flick back and forth (kinda like a cat's), this also happens when they are impatient. When excited they tend to hold their tail higher, sometimes even waving it back and forth flowingly (not wildly like a dog). If the tail is held up above their body, stiff, and straight, it is a sign of dominance as they attempt to make themselves look bigger. This is a sign of aggression and means you should stay back. Brushing the tail against someone else can be a sign of affection, but can also be a challenge, depending on other signs given in the body language. When two Enkoro really like each other, they will often entwine their tails together, almost like holding hands.

Ohhhh! I really like these...Perhaps one would be good as an OC for me. (Since I"m not huge on completely fantasy horses, but I do love the occasional breed...)
I might have to see about getting one of these, if the perfect one comes along...

These all look awesome! I see the stripey markings are an actual trait
I really love how you did the hair here by the way, it looks beautiful!

Oh yes, I love stripes and so decided to go for it. All of em have at least two legs with a minimum of stripes on half. I have so many plans for them, different genetic 'mutations' if you must call them.... I guess more like traits. I'm so excited!
And thanks. I didn't want to fuss with drawing lines and coloring them in for each and every one of them, so I went with this more free way which I will use for imports and babies. ^^
