EQUESTRIA DAILY

---------------------------------------------

She is 2/6. The other 4 of the mane 6 are currently being made, so stay tuned!!

Grand Galloping Gala Rarity

The toy I used is a 3" brushable Rarity: www.hasbro.com/common/producti...
This took me about a week to make. Her dress & accessories are made from polymer clay, acrylic paint and beads.

Gen 4 Rarity designed by Lauren Faust
Pinkie Pie/My Little Pony Friendship Is Magic (c) Hasbro
This custom is (c) =Narxinba222

At the Gala, all the royals
They will meet fair Rarity
They will see I'm just as regal at the Gala! (at the Gala)
I will find him, my Prince Charming,
And how gallant he will be,
He will treat me like a lady, tonight at the Gala!

Wow! The dress is incredible, the hair is scary-accurate, and a bicone for her earring just tops it all off~

I take commissions
Its $40 for a general pony (derpy, Octavia, an OC etc). At the moment Im not selling, and almost everything you see in my gallery is for my personal collection.

I also dont commission gala ponies yet.

Love it, love it... Simply awesome.

I want to do the same sort of modification to the "wave 4" blind bag Fluttershy that I have, so I've been looking for suggestions on what material & process to use. Does the polymer clay set and harden over time without heating? i.e. to a point where it could be painted on?

What I want to do is "fix" her mane and tail, since they were cheap and made Flutter just a 100% recolor of the Rainbow Dash mold.
After molding her hair, I'd then want to paint it the proper color, similar to what I did with the AJ & Rarity figures at [link]

So any tips you could give me on where to find the clay you used, as well as any tips on molding it and whether it sets without heating, that'd be <3

polymer clay has to be baked in the oven at 130 (i think) degrees Celsius for 15 minutes for every 6millimetres thick it is.

when I use polymer clay on the 3 inch brushable ponies, i lower the temperature and cook them for longer, because the plastic becomes very soft.
If i were you, i would do some googling about whether the blind bags are safe to be baked in the oven.

As I live in Australia, I get my Sculpey Polymer clay from Spotlight. Because you live in America, i wouldnt know where you could look. But polymer clay can be painted after it's baked.

You can buy air dry clay, but again, i wouldnt know where you could look. Try some art & craft stores. Even places like Target (im assuming America Target is like Australia Target) and places like that.

with moulding, things like chopsticks, exacto knives/stanley knives, toothpicks and other small objects are good for shaping clay. Also rolling pins and a big flat surface (like a tupperware lid) for flattening the clay out.

Beautiful! You used polymer clay? Did you bake it on the pony with the hair?

Narxinba222 In reply to alltheApples [2012-08-01 00:44:29 +0000 UTC]

Thank you!

and yes to both questions Although i didnt follow the instructions on the sculpey packet for baking. I turned the over down to 100 degrees celcius, and baked her for twice as long.

Wow! I'm surprised! That's good to know. Usually a straight iron can ruin a pony's hair, and I wanted to try customizing some brushables. Great restyling on the hair, too!

Narxinba222 In reply to alltheApples [2012-08-01 04:56:25 +0000 UTC]

i think most straight irons get hotter than 100 C
but the oven is like a heat in the air, as opposed to a hot object pressing and squeezing the hair. so that probably why it doesnt go funny shaped/frizzled.

you do, however have to be careful about touching the pony when taking it out of the oven cause any pressure could warp the plastic

thanks

yeah i know. I was going to make them out of transparent sculpey, but it looked funny, so i used glue and blue paint and painted a thin layer of that on her hooves just so she had something resembleing them
