The now ghost town of Crystal, Colorado was founded in 1880. numerous silver mines were in operation here in the late 1800s and this was the mill that powered a mechanical air compressor for ore procesing. There is a 4 wheel drive trail that you can take to this mill thats about 10 miles round trip. We decided to hike the road instead. It ended up being a really really long day because it was a steady downpour of rain/snow the entire way there and back. I actually was glad it was raining and foggy though because i thought it would be a nice change from the sunny and blue sky photos you normally see from here. hope it was worth it!

The bottom left of the picture...what is it about the angle or lens manipulation you used that makes the water seem to run along a vertical edge, there in the corner?

I keep looking back on this shot in awe. I agree, it looks much better with the sky as it is; it would be a bit harder to imagine this with a stark-blue sky.

I really do love the shot of Crystal Mill you took this year, but this one is still my favorite of the two. There's just something about the atmosphere of this one I love. The water is a lot more interesting here, too.

They are both perfect pictures. My reason for loving this one more has nothing to do with how you took the picture....it's just what nature decided to do that day. I don't mind the bare trees here. It adds to the feeling. So does the mist.
You did an amazing job....both pictures are breathtaking! It's cool how different the trees look now from about this time last year with it only being a couple days difference.
