However, the way the waters of Wahkeena Creek cascade and fan out over the many basalt columns of Fairy Falls makes it just as impressive to me. When visiting Fairy Falls you wont find a large visitors center and there is no large freeway exit to lure you in, but For those willing to step away from their cars and make the short hike through this lush green forest will find their extra efforts rewarding.

yeah its awesome there. It was pretty funny how many people were down below at Wahkeena and Multnomah and I probably spent an hour at fairy falls and didnt see a single person... It's crazy, its like a mile off the road haha

I'm surprised you didn't see anyone in a whole hour. I always have to move my tripod constantly for hikers, but I'm usually only there in the spring. Most visitors aren't willing to do the hike...too much work for them. I like doing the whole loop all the way back to Multnomah. You'd be surprised how many times I've heard people say they've never even stopped for Multnomah! It's right there!

Fairy Falls is a hike...lots of muddy, steep terrain...but Mulnomah Falls isn't a hike at all, which makes me wonder why some people don't take a few minutes to at least walk up to the base. Standing on the bridge takes my breath away with all that spray.
We did a pretty good hike today...to Colchuck Lake. 8.5 miles roundtrip and 2200 ft. elevation gain. Not as strenous as the one we did a few weeks ago, but still a good one.

really? i could have sworn it was on a paved path... i cant really remember though.. i got straight out of the car from colorado and started up there so my memory is hazy haha

It starts on a paved path, so that's what you probably remember. After you get past Wahkeena Falls, you change to just dirt, which is usually wet and muddy, but perhaps not so much this time of year.

yeah i remember the concrete path going up some switchbacks and then a bit of a dirt path now that i think about it
