Woah!
That's impressive. I never get the bulb shot to come out right. So i always just wait for the flash and take a really quick shutter speed. But never comes out as nice as this.
But I love Santa Fe. And lightning.
So claps to you.

That is quite possibly the best lighting shot I've ever seen.

Interesting. I once had a theatre class project in which I had to design a background for a show using "passion" and I did that by painting lightning strokes in my model. I'm glad to find out that I'm not the only one who associates the two.

As lightning only becomes visible when it strikes the land (thus the light is going towards the sky, not striking down) then it becomes about response between the heavens and the earth. Passion is about response, a powerful one.

Great work. I wish I had a camera that could catch lightning like that.

This is an excellent shot! I don't think I have the luck to get a picture like that. We never have storms like that here, so seeing it even in pictures is amazing. I like how you can even see the rain showers in the light.

where I was standing it was completely dry. This storm was a little bit away luckily, else I wouldn't have gotten the shot most likely.

Yeah, I suppose I could make a desktop for others of it. Recommend a size? I have a widesceen so my proportions might not be ideal for others.

Well I run a resolution of 1200x800 something.
Im not really sure what other people are running their screens at, but ive also seen in the past people zipping together 3 different image sizes for use as wallpapers.
Its really a great image, id love to be able to use it as a desktop image. I think it'd also make for a great print as well.
One thing I have not learned quite yet with photography is the long exposure images. maybe one day.

after watching the storm for an hour I was aware there were certain areas where the lightning was striking with greater frequency. There was almost a pattern to the bolts, but it also involved a good deal of patience.

so, did you just leave your camera lens open at a certain spot and hope that it'd strike there?

It truly is awe inspiring.
Thunderstorms are some of my favorite weather events, strolling quietly though the streets getting poured up, jumping in puddles, making love on the porch slowly getting wet from the sideways rain. And I just adore blackouts. I wish they happened all the time. I wish I could live by candlelight all the time.
