I honestly thought this was the end game for Hinata's character arc for the longest time. Of her letting go of Naruto and moving on as an independent, but they just had to ruin it.

I agree with you. Same thing applies to Sakura in Kishi's manga. She'll be a MUCH better off and stronger without Sasuke holding her back everytime he shows up or is mentioned.

that is BRILLIANT. that to me is almost a perfect reolution of Hinatas feelings as we are likely to see.
the notion of her younger self running off like that while her current self turns towards the future is a wonderfuly accurate portrayal of both the character and what I beleive Kishimoto sensei has inteded for her/
