such beautiful representation of these beautiful creatures. I often like to go out and just shoot one subject or at least try to. of course, there's always something to catch the distract me! how many total shots until you got it?

If you stay on it's good side it will always work to improve a pic... Tick it off and nothing but deletes!!!

I used to have a whole bunch of mallards as pets..... they were absolutely great, i would take them down to the creek and find little crawdads for them.

But then someone in the neighborhood killed them while they were sleeping, with a huge rock. T-T
Those poor little ducks....

That's really too bad, sorry to hear that.. I had a rabbit stolen from my hutch when I was younger, it hurts ... wish the world didn't have rotten people like this...

Did you use a continuous shoot for this? I would like to see the rest of the pic! I like shots like this.

hi Kelly nope, this was one frame... I had my camera set to 1/1000 shutter speed,I let it figure out the f stop...then I took many frames of ducks flying in.. I would let them feed a bit then i would wave my arm to send them flying.. shoot a couple of pics, wait and when they flew back shoot some more.. did this 3 times before I had a nice group of hens showing the pattern... then I put out more food and left them alone..... later I took the big pic and cropped out the other ducks and just left these ... that's why it's a long and thin picture...you can see part of one duck in lower corner.. couldn't crop that out.

Thank you Dan, just had to lead and follow through with the swing to keep it in frame... and not jerk the shutter button... sound familiar?

thank you Candace, I really like this shot, shows all the flight patterns and it looks staged... ducks are great models, but they don't follow instructions very well , must be the language barrier

I can't wait till the ducks and geese arrive back here. We are live right next to a major waterfowl area. I will have to borrow my husband hip-waders and go hide out in the marsh this spring.
