Description Book cover for best selling author Peter V. Brett's "Brayan's Gold" novella, published by Subterranean Press. It's a supplemental story to Brett's Demon Cycle series about Arlen's first Messenger run.

I also did 9 interior illustrations for this novella.

The book will be released in January 2011 and has a limited print run, so if you're a fan of the series order it while you still can. Preorder page and synopsis with some sneak peaks at the interiors is here: www.subterraneanpress.com/Merc…

Wow! Happy to see a new image from you!
The snowy mountains are amazing and I like the mood of the piece. There's something bugging be though. The sky, near the mountain area, have some mist involve and it seems like this mist have frantic eraser strokes here and there. Particularly at the middle- top left area of the image. I understand that mist is not totally uniform though... anyway great piece and congrats for the book cover and interior illustrations!

Lovely work, I don't think I've seen you render landscapes before with a predominant figure, but the scale works well (especially for a book cover) and I like how the creature is hidden in the environment, well for me it was because I studied from top to bottom hehe.

Yeah, this was my first serious go at a dominant landscape. (Also my first attempt painting snow in years.) All said I think it turned out pretty well. It was nice to get out of my box a bit.

Oops I meant to write 'without' but you got the gist of my sentence hehe.

I agree, it's a nice piece and I was surprised to see it was from you. I checked out the other drawings and it does have some of your style but it's very soft, but it could be because it has a pencil/ink feel to it.
