Description Peace be to you,

A common misconception is that Muslim women are the only ones who cover their hair. It may be true that Islam is the only religion in which most women follow its directives to cover the hair, but it is not the only religion to have such directives.

It is particularly interesting to look at the case of Christianity, since Christianity is the predominant religion in the West, and it is Westerners, including observant Christians, who are often the first to criticize Islam because of the hijab (modest dress, including head covering).

Additionally the idea behind modest dress does not only pertain to females, but to males also. Modesty is encouraged for both genders in Islam and is seen as a sign of piety. Indeed, even Mary, the mother of Jesus wore the hijab. Also, today nuns virtually practice hijab for the same fundamental reason as the devout Muslim woman; to express piety as an individual who chooses to surrender their will to God and God’s Sacred Law.

Have you ever wondered why Catholic nuns dress like they're wearing hijab (Muslim hijabi women, have you ever been mistaken for a nun?).

Have you ever wondered why Mary the mother of Jesus (peace be upon them both) is always depicted in Christian art with her hair covered? Did you know that until the 1960s, it was obligatory for Catholic women to cover their heads in church (then they "modernized" the service)?

It is true that most Christian women do not cover their heads, and many don't take other teachings of the Bible (against pre-marital sex, adultery, etc) literally either. However, there do seem to be a growing number of Christian women out there who are committed to following the Bible as it is written. Below are some WebPages that I found that call for Christian women to cover their heads in accordance with the commandment of the Bible
THE VEIL - The Unveiled Woman
The Significance of the Christian Woman's Veiling
NO SUCH CUSTOM

the Holy Qur'an says:
"And say to the faithful women to lower their gazes, and to guard their private parts, and not to display their beauty except what is apparent of it, and to extend their head coverings (khimars) to cover their bosoms , and not to display their beauty except to their husbands, or their fathers, or their husband's fathers, or their sons, or their husband's sons, or their brothers, or their brothers' sons, or their sisters' sons, or their womenfolk, or what their right hands rule (slaves), or the followers from the men who do not feel sexual desire, or the small children to whom the nakedness of women is not apparent, and not to strike their feet (on the ground) so as to make known what they hide of their adornments. And turn in repentance to Allah together, O you the faithful, in order that you are successful." - the Holy Qur'an [24:31]

"O Prophet! Say to your wives and your daughters and the women of the faithful to draw their outer garments close around themselves; that is better that they will be recognized and not annoyed. And God is ever Forgiving, Gentle.” - the Holy Qur'an [33:59]

For more on why Muslim women should practice modesty and Hijab:
Why Should I Wear Hijab?

Men are also encouraged to be modest. modesty is not only a call to women, but to men too.

"Say to the believing men that they should lower their gaze and guard their modesty: that will make for greater purity for them: And Allah is well acquainted with all that they do." - the Holy Qur'an [24:30]

So according to Matthew's account what did Prophet Jesus (peace be upon him) have to say about men "lowering their gaze" for greater purity? Let’s take a look at the Bible’s account of his Sermon on the Mount:

"You have heard that it was said, 'Do not commit adultery.’ But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart. - New Testament (Matthew 5:27-28)

So you see, Jesus' statement is very clear about why men should lower their gaze. He even equates the mere act of looking in lust with committing adultery. So what does Jesus recommend to do if a man can’t control himself from visually lusting after women? Well his following statement seems to really underline the importance of not committing these acts in which we often write off as minor sins.

"If your right eye causes you to sin, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell. - New Testament (Matthew 5:29)

Now we don't know for certain that Prophet Jesus -peace be upon him- really recommended gouging one's eyes out but we can conclude with relative certainty that this is a warning to the believers to first save their soul, rather then succumbing to the temptations of mundane desires.

Often people follow their own passions and lusts to a detriment, further straying from the straight path of understanding and guidance.

"Have you seen the one who takes as his god his own desire? Then would you be responsible for him? - Or do you think that most of them hear or reason? They are not except like livestock. Rather, they are [even] more astray in [their] way." the Holy Qur'an [25:43-44]

"But if they do not respond to you - then know that they only follow their [own] desires. And who is more astray than one who follows his desire without guidance from God ? Indeed, God does not guide the wrongdoing people." the Holy Qur'an [28:50]

So now let’s be reasonable here, God knows man and woman’s natural inclinations and desires. So these rules of modesty are not to take away from our individual freedom but rather they serve as loving guidance for us to avoid self destruction.
Furthermore, what kind of society fosters a more conducive moral environment to avoid such sins? A society where men and women guard their modesty and lower their gaze as such in a true Islamic society or of that from which we see in many countries today where men and women walk around practically nude?

Obviously God is all loving and wouldn’t make a law for man to follow without facilitating the proper environment to help him/her follow those laws with comfort. Remember, God is All-Loving and does not want to see man destroy himself. So in conclusion, the moral environment of the ideal Islamic society described in the Qur’an is the same exact model society that Jesus professed.

Indeed, God knows man's nature can often be weak, therefore we are not expected to be perfect all the time. In light of this reality, God shows us an immeasurable amount of mercy towards anyone whom is willing to humbly turn to Him in sincere repentance:

"God wishes to lighten (the burden) for you; and man was created weak" the Holy Qur'an [4:28]

"And We charge no soul except [with that within] its capacity, and with Us is a record which speaks with truth; and they will not be wronged." the Holy Qur'an [4:28]

by the way, I like french fries. ^_^

since so many people pointed this out, I want to reply here:
in my family's house, when we prepare french fries, we eat them with forks. they are fried with oil. and taking them by hands will make the hands full of oil. so don't feel surprised if you see people eating french fries with forks. ok?

as for Macdonnald's french fries, I don't know how do they do to remove the oil and keep them dry... O___o

these are the sisters, and here are the brothers:

peace be to you,
Nayzak

Great picture but isn't it weird that Adam and Eve were naked until they ate the forbidden fruit learned that they were naked, but now God is all "How dare you walk around with no clothes on, I hit you in the penis with lightning bult". That's kind of a mixed message. Personally I think God wants us to walk around naked, if only because being naked is so awesome. Besides once you see enough naked people walking around you're not going to notice anymore. So I say everyone who wants be naked, be naked and be proud. Unless you are old and/or ugly and fat then for the love of God don't be naked and be proud.

But seriously, I love your art. It is so cute and adorable.

I believe Mary wears a head covering (or palla in Latin) in many of the biblical pictures because it was a common piece of clothing in the Roman world. Judea being a province of the Roman Empire would of course adapt to it's culture and clothing aspects. Though what she actually wore can be open for debate considering that paintings of the Virgin Mary are normally by Latins living a century or so after she passed. And what she actually wore is...well up for debate.

Just a little historical note.

I am an atheist, and, like you, a manga fan. There is a book you need to read, it came out last year, "Jerusalem: Chronicles of the Holy City" by Guy Delisle. Guy (an atheist) and his girlfriend (a Catholic) with their 2 kids spent one year in the "Holy Land" as his girlfriend an administrator for MSF (Doctors Without Borders) shutting down a mission in the Palestinian Authority. I understand that you want to paint a happy face on a bronze age belief system for the sake of peace and eradicating racism- what apologists do best- but I have read the bible and I am disturbed by it (I am also sick of hearing the typical metaphorical, out-of-context, don't take it literally, and look up the words in Greek, Hebrew, and Aramaic excuses), and have been reading the Qur'an and torah, and am equally disturbed. So you can understand from a geopolitical standpoint what you propagate is impossible. I have Muslim (not religious) friends with families in the Mid East, an observant Jewish professor who served in the IDF, and know Christian missionaries who did work in Bali during the tsunami, and all are in agreement based on experience that as long as we are stuck on holy book stupid we will never find common ground and stop hurting one another. I also didn't like how you accused western women of being "forced" to wear g-strings as Muslim women are indeed forced to wear hijabs. How do I know? I point blank asked veiled Muslim women if they are forced to be veiled and they admitted they "won't disobey their family or religion". That's called being forced, because if in their hearts they don't want to be veiled but know they won't allow a man they don't want to touch them, that's called being moral without an ancient book. You also need to look into the abuses the Islamic clergy does to women in Iran. They are just as bad as the Vatican when they cover up for pedophile priests (I was a Catholic you know). Oh yes, and you need to see on PBS Frontline, "The Dancing Boys of Afghanistan". So when you say please educate yourself, I say that to you as well. Peace be to you, not to any madmen who come off crosses, down from mountains with tombstones, or out of caves.

Well, I personally LOVE this pic. It's full of sense, and you wrote your whole idea down. To me, who doesn't believe in any God, all of people are the same; No matter they're christian, mulism, or others, they still have one head, two eyes, arms, legs, no real difference but their choices of living. Hating each other because of their religion is just ridiculous. And you're also right to point mulism and christianism have some silimarities.

as for u lady femme wearing a decent clothes doesnt mean that they are slaves im going to talk about the Muslim women, wearing hijab doesnt make her a slave....,their are some girls (women) u can see them walking on the street wearing a very tight clothes that u can really see everything in her body but she's wearing hijab so what im trying to say is that hijab is not just to force women to cover their bodies its something for yourself god will reward u for this its something (should) come from believing that u must wear it even if some parents force their daughters to wear hijab but others dont they let their daughter choose (my parents didnt force me ) because forcing wont stop the girl from doing bad things what u wear doesnt represent ur personalty (not always in some cases)
And Sorry for my English

You do realize that men and women are not 100% similar biologically and mentally speaking?

Men are more sexually attracted to women than the other way around, that is why it is customary for women to cover up to recreate the balance of society, it is a simple concept.

Christians and Jews over 200 years ago used to wear modest clothes, only in modern society, the word 'slut' is used more often than normal.

Though the truth is, men have a slight degree above women because of their responsibilities.

Men were created to protect women, as this was God's decree, that is why it always seems like men are the supremacists and women are the slaves and servants, and it is not supposed to be like this.

There is no Goddess, nor God, but only Allah.

Females and Males are equal in this world, men are not superior over women other than their responsibilities of protecting women and the family, other than that, both men and women are 100% equal.

A women letting herself fall deliberately serving men as if they are masters is just a trip to a wrath of the Almighty creator. A man who treats women like they are his servants and slaves and they must use them for their pleasure, they will just get a straight ticket to hell.

I have to intercept, on Behalf of myself who belive in our father who is in heaven and his teachings. I have NO idea, where your coming from with that believing that women are SUBMISSIVE under men and all this other stuff.

If a SOLE individual believes that, and is Chauvinistic, that is his OWN mind, not the mind of Christian or the belief of someones who believes that god is our father in heaven.

Why are you spreading hate on a picture that's not even DEPICTING "MALE-SUPREMACY"?

Where are you STATING this from. There's NO WHERE, in the holy bible does it say that OUR father IN HEAVEN, hates women, and are INFERIOR to men?

God, never says women are INFERIOR to men. He says, that when you take a woman as a WIFE and a man as your husband. You are both EQUALS and STAND side by side as ONE. It says men are the PROVIDER and PROTECT HIS home, and HIS family. A woman can be a PROVIDER too it doesn't matter but it doesn't mean he's going to back hand her if she does.

Where the heck do you get that other stuff from?

I would like to know because your logic, and speaking is so jaded.

Yes, the bible is horribly gruesomeness, They stoned to death prostitutes and whores, they murdered other people and killed many children but these are during times of the old testament, and then the ten commandments were created.
There are parts in the new testament that talks about how to become a saint, from a sinner. Because we were all sinners until christ died for our sins.
I did not call myself a or the GOD* I said, he is god, our father in heaven.

I agree women where raped and stoned to death, prostitutes are raped and stoned to death. Little boys were stoned to death and raped, sodem and gommora and the like, we know.
But,
That's the old testament, when everything was out of sync with the morals of our father, In the newer books of the bible, like psalms and revelations, it explains how to conduct your life now as a daughter, and son of our father.

Father, I don't think of him, No one in LIFE has referred to him as "having a penis" Our father in heaven, ISN'T male, because he's not of this flesh and body. He's the holy trinity, The father and the son and the holy ghost (The spirit of the holy that are within our hearts when we accept the lord into our hearts and abide by his teachings)He is the creator. When it addresses him as our father in heaven, that would cancel out calling him an "it" because our father is not an "it"

It's alright, No harm done.
