They did a remarkable job at parenting, on that evening. Sadly, our guides told us that the infant mortality among wild dogs is very high and that most of these puppies wouldn's survive

the pups and illness, but feeding so many hungry mouths would require a lot of work from
the adults to catch so much food. I think the number of pups that would survive would
also depend on what kind of season it was - a good season, when the rains arrive on time
and there's plenty to eat, or a bad season when the rains are late and food is scarce.

Lions are one of the main sources of puppy mortality. Guess with their short legs they just aren't fast enough yet to run away
