I was bored, so I decided to draw Nala’s tree. Not full, of course!

SARAFINA: The Mother

Nala’s mother. A kind, practical lioness with high hunting abilities.

I’ve decided to make her not an identical Nala clone. Gave her a nose gradient that is brighter ( like Mufasa’s ), and I made her fur lighter.

Sarafina was born in Ahadi’s rule, a little later after Sarabi. She was a mouthful as a cub, and would most likely befriend each one that appeared on her way. She grew up like a normal lioness, and had a small crush on Prince Takasa as a cub. Eventually, she met Haibu - a cub her uncle had saved from a falling tree. They got closer and closer as they grew, and eventually, friendship turned into love.

Soon enough, Sarafina would have a single litter of two cubs sired by Haibu. Her two precious cubs, Mheetu and Nala… And an extra addiction to the family, a small cub named Tojo, the apparent result of her husband with another lioness before him and Sarafina became a thing. Nala had been betrothed to Prince Simba, it seemed like everything was perfect…

Until Mufasa died.

A darkness hit in the Pridelands, affecting all members, including her and her children. King Scar and the hyenas were cruel and ruthless. And unfortunately, in the new King’s madness, Haibu was chased off, which broke Sarafina’s heart. As a payment, Scar offered something, he could be her new mate. Sarafina declined, but after a moment of thought, she… accepted. Scar convinced her to have "heirs", and so it how it went. They only had a litter, but with four cubs this time - three girls and one male.

Scar clearly despised the fact the only male cub into the litter was a weak scum, and only if it weren’t for Sarafina’s efforts, the cub would’ve been murdered by Scar.

Everything became "normal" again, until eventually Simba returned. Scar was gone, and the Pridelands were safe. Her daughter was the Queen, and everything seemed peaceful once again. Later when the Kingdom healed, she became the grandmother of Nala’s first litter of royal twins - Kiara and Kopa.
Sarafina was old and weak. Her health wasn’t as good, and eventually, she’d get a sickness while Nala was pregnant with her second litter. Sarafina lived to see Kion be born and learn how to walk, but she passed before he reached cubhood.

HAIBU: The Father

Nala’s father. A shy, playful young lion, whom’s very committed to his family.

Haibu was born during Ahadi’s reign, a little earlier than Sarafina, but not older than Sarabi. He wasn’t very social, but he was very adventurous. One day, he found himself stuck in a dying tree branch, and before he had an impact, The Lion Guard luckily saved him. Eventually, he met Sarafina, and she became his only and best friend.

As they grew, feelings got stronger and both fell in love. Haibu had a litter of two cubs - a girl, named Nala, and a boy, named Mheetu. He was the happiest lion ever, but that quickly ended as soon as Prince Takasa - now Scar, had threatened him to take a small cub named Tojo. The cub was the result of one night between Scar’s sister and a rogue, an unwanted pregnancy. Haibu accepted Scar’s offer, a little hesitant, but he accepted it. The family happily took Tojo in, and everything was now perfect.

Until…

Mufasa died, and Scar took over. Haibu was neutral about the decision, after all, Scar was the one in the line of succession after Simba. But eventually, his neutral behavior quickly turned into a bad one. Arguments, fights and conflicts became a part of his everyday. One day, out of anger, Scar exiled Haibu. He never liked Haibu at all anyways, what would change?

After being chased by the hyenas, Haibu was now a rogue. Haibu made multiple attempts to return, but all resulted in scratches and scars. Eventually, he’d accept his fate, and left to never be seen again.

Haibu died peacefully at his sleep one day, as an elder.

And the rest is history…

BASIC SUMMARIES OF EVENTS:

- Mheetu got a permanent blinding scar during the fight in Priderock, luckily he got saved by Nala, who killed the hyena in the same instant.

- Nala had a total of 3 litters with Simba.

- Nala died before Simba, and just like her father, she peacefully left during her sleep.
