Description Here's a second shot of my Wembley replica what I made myself. I fiddled up a shirt for him. I don't have the banana tree fabric yet, so I used some goofy stuff I had in one of my fabric boxes.

When I do the shirt for real the cut will be a lot more accurate, especially in the neckline.

How did you make him? I'd love to make a Wembley, since he's my all-time favorite Muppet.

Get some Antron fleece, faux fur, foam, and ostrich feathers.  Spend about a month cutting, dyeing, gluing, and sewing.  Presto!

This is true. There have been scientific studies which have proven that it is impossible not to love Wembley.

YEEEEEEEEEE! He looks wonderful! He looks a lot like the puppet from the first season where he was a bit cuter than his future selves.

Thanks! If you say he looks right, that's something to be proud of. (The real test of my skills will be Gobo, though. I have the feeling you'll be able to point out every bit of off-modelness on him.)

To be honest, I can't tell one Wembley from another. My reference pics came from later episodes, though.

Is the episode with Lou called " We Love You Wembley? " He looks kinda like that Wembley. He also looks a bit like " The Wizard " without the bags under his eyes.

Oh, I'm sure I'll want to steal your Gobo when you get him completed.

Negaduck9 In reply to Phraggle [2013-05-02 22:46:14 +0000 UTC]

The Wizard? That sorry-lookin' Fraggle? Ew!

Yeah, like you don't already have enough Gobos at your home. There's a way you could get a puppet from me, but it wouldn't be stealin'.

Your Gobo poser, is the hair attached to the skull or something on top of the skull? Looking at the puppets on the show, it occurred to me that it looked like Gobo's and Wem's hair were attached to something above the skull rather than the skull itself. I attached a ping pong ball to the top of Wem's head just behind the eyeballs and glued the feathers onto that, and it looked great just right.

Phraggle In reply to Negaduck9 [2013-05-02 22:50:12 +0000 UTC]

I think The Wizard is just a Wembley with saggy-eye additions. It's all the rage in wizardry.

I could purchase your puppet wares?

I'm not 100% sure but I think his hair is a separate entity that was stuck on his head. His former owner had Gobo's hair changed to a more accurate shade and he showed me a pic of Gobo ( and someone's Red ) holding his old hair piece.

Still, The Wizard looked pretty bad. Like he'd been on a month-long bender.

Let's just say that I have been known to take commissions.

Well, I've been contemplating puppets of my own characters. I dunno if that's something you'd feel up to or not. It's just something I've thought about a lot.

Negaduck9 In reply to Phraggle [2013-05-03 19:20:47 +0000 UTC]

Hmmm. I don't think I'm skillful enough to make a character like Ralph or Amber in puppet form. Fraggles are pretty simple, and I still break my brain trying to get their head shapes right. I doubt I could do justice to your characters.

Phraggle In reply to Negaduck9 [2013-05-03 19:29:46 +0000 UTC]

I think in time you'd be able to do them though. I think I'd like to learn myself so I could repair them & stuff.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Negaduck9 In reply to Phraggle [2013-05-03 20:28:04 +0000 UTC]

In time, but right now the amount of time it would take for me to even get something resembling the character...either I'd make well below minimum wage or it's cost you much more than it was worth!

If you want to learn puppet making, I'd say get some stuff and start messing with it. That's how I learn just about everything.

Phraggle In reply to Negaduck9 [2013-05-04 18:16:42 +0000 UTC]

I've considered looking into puppet making. I also wanna learn to play guitar. ... Then maybe I could combine the too skills... HEY! Now that I think about it, actually, I'm sorta working on a drawing about that very idea. I should finish that.

He looks at LEAST as good as rebooted Wembley from that "Do It Anyway" video etc!! And I mean that is really saying something, because I bet that Wembley's the most difficult to build of all the five. Except that I am sure Gobo's more intricate costume is probably a lot more of a pain than the others'.

ANYWAY AMAZING AS USUAL!!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Negaduck9 In reply to Plaid-F [2013-04-29 22:50:34 +0000 UTC]

Ooh, thank you! And, yes, his head is a royal pain because it's so strangely shaped, plus it has to move in certain ways or it won't look right.I'm expecting the rest of the Fraggle Five to be much simpler. Uncle Matt, however... that cone head of his might be a problem,.

I don't think Gobo's costume will be a problem, once I get his shirt fabric sorted out. The vest isn't that complex, just pockety. Shirts are easy. And the scarf is just a bit of fabric.

Plaid-F In reply to Negaduck9 [2013-04-30 19:47:08 +0000 UTC]

I've totally made cone heads on accident; if I ever discover my methods I'll let you in on them I think it's just astounding that you're making all of them, truly!!

This summer I still want to build something after your Okami-inspired Fraggle design As well as, well, everything else haha!

Negaduck9 In reply to Plaid-F [2013-04-30 20:02:39 +0000 UTC]

I can picture in my head how to make the cone head. However, as with the other Fraggles' heads, the key is proportion. That's where things get difficult.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Plaid-F In reply to Negaduck9 [2013-04-30 20:06:10 +0000 UTC]

I haven't worried about proportion with the couple of Fraggles I've built, but Red's head certainly would have benefitted especially from some better planning She was like my first puppet ever though so haha

Hey, your Red, my Janken! The builder can see the shortcomings, but others just see a good puppet.
