A handheld shield is not necessary with such a comprehensive a suit of armor if a flair mace.

GREAT WORK but one thing, it would not penetrate that easily unless it was like iron or even maybe mild steel. Β The thing is almost all armors from Europe was made with much better alloys.Β
A weapon like that was to "ring there bell" so much so that it can stun them for a bit and even lose the will to fight on. Β It will make someone very sick. Β They did something like this in real life in National Geographic with a man in Full Gothic plate; he was in shock and sick lot the will to fight on. Β
Look it up in "National Geographic Medieval fight book" Β
