I drew this picture just after I finally reached my friend by my mobile and heard her voice 3days after the earthquake.
I wanted to draw a happy picture cause I felt relieved but also sad about people who are still suffering.
Just having ordinay life is so beautiful

She said that She can buy food without queueing for hours recently.
In this picture,they are togther but like you said,they had to go without say good by to their friend(in this case,MM AiberL)
This is one sad reality of DN..it may be one reasons why I keep drawing their past which may have happened behind the scene.

that's what i like best about fanfiction and fanart: maybe what "really" happened to the characters was tragic. but in fact, the original story is also fiction. so... we can make something else happen. it's like "el milagro secreto", a short story by Jorge Luis Borges... in that story, this guy was about to be assassinated by a firing squad or something, but he didn't want to die because he hadn't finished writing the play or book that he wanted to finish. and he hadn't learned to play chess. and so God gave him a secret miracle whereby JUST FOR HIM, time stopped and he could have some years to finish all those things. and then he worked on them and he finished and learned and everything and when he was done and satisfied, the time un-stopped and the bullets arrived and he was killed. i think you would like Borges.
But our stories about these people are like that. we are giving the characters the secret miracle of extra life that we want them to have.

Borges has been widely translated so probably you can find him in Japanese. i think you guys would probably "get" Borges more than North Americans do.

yes,I have heard his name but not many readers in Japan(...the biggerst reason is that his book are not sold in common bookshops..very unfortunate!

Borges had a lot of Zen connections in his work (as well as a bunch of other traditions). i think he mostly approaches it from the Chinese side instead of Japanese, but that should not be too much of a barrier to discovering whether or not he understands some Asian philosophy well.

Depends on my feeling,the atomosphere of my pictures are different..In a way,I like drawing sad,melancholic pictures but this one was diffrenet.
With huge sorrow,hope is only way that we can have now.
That's why I drew this with subtle warmness..not excessively.
