It feels a bit stiff, maybe it's too realist, I dunno something feels off..
in animation you need to deal with what is between frames..in real life the eyes doesn't work 24 FPS, it never miss any part of the movement however fast, however small..
that's why, it's usually not very good to be too realist..
Ew sorry just noticed there is a V2, gonna check that instead

Oh good job! It does actually look like a leopard or panther build, not a heavy cat so the weight it walks with looks fine to me. ^^

Looks not bad, but a bit stative i think. Like a roboter. But much better as many other animations i see. So i can't wait see if you make it done.

thanks for sharing this, that's a good reminder I need to work more on animation myself ahaha
this is a very promissing wip ! when you say wip I'm curious though at which step you stopped in the process ? (to me it looked nearly polished x'D but well, my eyes aren't trained enough yet to be the a great advisor) though I was wondering, is it maya viewport doing that, the rig, or is it intentional that the claws seem "out" (don't know the correct word) '-' ?
keep doing great work ! and I'm super happy you're having class with such a monster animator :'D omg wow enjoy your class !

that's what I thought, it looked already pretty clean for a blocking XD but again, I don't how your teacher works, mine wants us to stay as long as possible in clamp/stepped curves cause students tends to rely too much on the graph editor x'D, I hope you'll have constructive feedback from your teacher on this !
oh x'D hum, if I had to rig it I would put it either on a custom attribute (like the one you create with driven keys or with the node editor if you want to simply hide something) on one of the paws controllers or maybe on the root but the latest seems a weird place to put a custom attribute for the claws though '-' but I cannot think of anywhere else, not having the rig myself it's hard to tell with only the pictures provided by the website, but I guess it's not a big deal, it's more a detail, what matter most is the movement after all
glad to hear

This teacher told us to build the cycle however we wanted, stepped or splined was fine, and I prefer to build cycles in layers, so I straight into curves from the start. Especially for the Z translate on the feet, it's best for me to not have too many keys.
I'll find the claws eventually, but it's a good idea to pull them in now before I forget about them, thanks!

Wow how amazing to have a mentor who have worked on so many huge projects! It must be amazing to learn from him.
I hope you learn a lot of great things in that class. This one looks very great so far, only a few small details that look a bit off that I think are connected to some of the things Skittlesthehusky mentioned. But I hope you post more, it'd be great to see how you improve along the way

i don't know if you're asking for some criticism or not, but i'm gonna give a bit of a kind comment as well as some things you can see through with your WIP!
from how i see this animation, you got the posture down! i like the little detail you added with the mouth and the tail movements.
however, your cycle needs a tiny bit of work!
big cats tend to have a slower type of stride, and they carry a lot more weight in their steps.
and from what i remember, sometimes their heads have a bit of a sway to them, while as yours is a bit stiff by neck movements.
add a bit more life to your big cat!
also, your front legs seem a bit jerky and jittery, so you might wanna check your inbetweens! <3
P.S: i admire your work, and i hope to see more from you. cheers!

Thanks for the crit! I used a leopard as a ref, so it didn't have the stride weight or length of a lion or a tiger. The front wrists were a huuge pain to pose so it doesn't surprise me that they're iffy.

you're welcome! and it's perfectly understandable, don't worry. leopards do have a different weight and length to them, you're correct on that.
and it's alright dude! i know the troubles of that. haha.

ahh, you're a little mistaken! just because i don't post my stuff online doesn't mean i haven't done it.
i practice animal animation privately, but i use real footage of animals and personal studies as references. i'm just giving nekonotaishou a bit of advice!
