A staggering shot, though I would agree with *RemiroQuai that it does unbalance the shot - elements such as the rock in the foreground and the end of the pier look conspicuous, and perhaps could have done with being burned back to their original blackness. With the direction of the light, it almost seems like there is another source that is lighting up the struts, but this is not seen on anything else. An interesting effect applied to a drop dead gorgeous picture.

This is a very beautiful photograph. I have a huge thing for symmetrical lines and the perspective in this is what really does it for me. And of course the contrast. And the shadows. And the composition. So everything, I guess, eh?

So is this taken with the new Rebel???

Do I just call you Neolithos?

Stunning contrast and effective use of shadows The perspective is interesting, too. I'm just going to say great overall composition, give it a , and leave it at that because I'd be commenting on this one all day!

Excellent image - I really like the way you've portrayed the structure of the pier and the shadows add a dramatic element to the shot.

I don't know whether the equalise funcion really did the shadows any good. Now they just look a bit awkward don't you think? Still I love the point of view with the sun just behind the pier.

in the unaltered shot, shadows and backsides of the pilings appear all black. i was very surprised with this result... and like it! thanks for your comment, i do appreciate it.
