My entry for this month's MGC.I chose the topic of February 2007: Canon Romance.
The scene was inspired by the song "Fireflies" by Owl City.
This piece took pretty much time and I found the light effects and the background really difficult. I'm thankfull for every hint!

I love the details! Those powerful wings and epic feet. Their expressions are perfect as well, warm and relaxed. You csn feel how comfortable they are with each other.

I did a basic pencil sketch and then I did the lines in Photoshop. After that I did a basic coloring on a seperate layer and several shading layers set to multiply with different opacities. Then I did the background and the fireflies.
Brooklyn's official mate has a beak and I drew her official appearance (see SLG Gargoyles Clan Building Vol 2).
(Before there was an official continuation of the story, the fanfiction project TGS introduced a character named Sata as Brooklyn's mate. This couple did get a lot of fanart. But she is not canon.)

This what I love. I love them both together and being in nature. I wish I can go to the evergreens and camp out there. Sadly I'm a city dude and you inspire me to be more in touch with nature. ^_^

i remember reading through literally every piece of information i could find on gargoyles and trust me i took the time to look for it, especially brooklyn. i like how you strayed away from the traditional style they were drawn in and added your own twist to it (makes them look more realistic). i dont know anything about katana but i have seen her in other's artwork (but without a beak). you did a pretty good conception for fireflies by owl city. maybe if you get another chance to enter it in a competition you should.

I adore the coloring and your adaptation fo the Gargoyles style in integration with you own is fabulous! It's also a good character portrayal of Katana and Brooklyn - I love this relationship so much! Great work
