My first attempt at digital painting. There are still things I'm not entirely happy with (the hand, for example) but overall I'm reasonably pleased with it (read: I'm not messing with it anymore.)

Ever since I posted my painting of The Phantom, Elijah has been nagging me to do a sepia print portrait of him too. Elijah is the hero of my Steampunk epic that is my current WIP. A disillusioned Civil War veteran, fed up with the whole concept of Manifest Destiny, Elijah took himself off to parts unknown and basically set up his own little kingdom on an island in the middle of nowhere, accompanied by an assortment of other exiles, orphans, deserters, fugitives, adventurers, and other displaced persons. He's a rogue and a scoundrel with a snarky sense of humor, an opportunist and above all else a survivor. But at his core he has a fatherly loyalty and responsibility for his crew, as well as a deep sense of honor and principle that redeems him almost as often as it gets him in trouble.
