Description

Here's the original line.

TUCKER: The first thing you've got to understand is we recycle pretty much everything on a starship. That includes waste, and the first thing that happens to the waste is it gets processed through a machine called a bio-matter resequencer. Then it gets broken down into. Hold on.

(Hoshi pauses recording.)

TUCKER: They're going to think I'm the sanitation engineer.

ARCHER: You're doing fine.

(The recording is resumed.)

TUCKER: So the waste is broken down into little molecules and then they get transformed into any number of things we can use on the ship. Cargo containers, insulation, boots, you name it.

That didn't sit well with me as they use poop to manufacture cargo containers, insulation, boots, you name it.  Not because of how gross it is, rather how impractical and unrealistic it is.  It's more practical to make an apple from your own shit with 32nd century replicators.

So I decided to rework it so it's more realistic where the NX-01 Enterprise separates the feces from the toilet water with a centrifuge like they do on the International Space Station that spins at 220 RPMs, but increase it to over 1000 RPMs mostly to make it seem stronger without knowing if it would make a difference.  But the urine filled water is then taken to a filtration system to remove the other impurities like some sort of futuristic reverse osmosis and ultraviolet purification.

But they might include other methods like electrodialysis:

The ISS uses disposable ceramic filters to get rid of the contaminants in the remaining toilet water.  Something that's both wasteful and impractical on a starship.

After all that, the remaining poop is sent to the bio-matter resequencer which is broken down into its basic compounds and sent to aeroponics and bio-reactors to give the food and algae nutrients.  Food to grow, algae to feed the GMO yeast to feed non-GMO meat, dairy products, limited fruit puree, etc.

I don't know if they use water to clean the centrifuge with high pressure water to prevent them using say more than 20% of the water they had already recycled, or what they use to ensure they recycle as much poop as possible.

Regarding Prodigy, I will admit, to date it's the only Star Trek that failed to capture my attention or keep my interest.  But removing from Paramount Plus like that wasn't exactly playing fair.
