Description These mobile weapons can be found on any worlds occupied by the enemy.  Due to their construction, numerous variants of the original organic weapon quickly evolve, permanently embedding themselves into target ecosystems.  They are shock-troops, cannon-fodder for the enemy's relentless assaults.

The Basilisk is a grunt unit, mass-produced cannon-fodder for the enemy's numerous campaigns.  They are bred to be techno-organic tanks, meant to smash enemy positions on land, underwater or in space.  Its meta-chitin shell provides defense against most projectile and energy weapons.  Light-decelerating mirror-organs ensure a steady fuel supply for the Basilisk's hyper-sharp talons, and its main weapon:  the Eye Of Doom.

This techno-organic plasma cannon can fire repeated shots with deady accuracy, with an output capable of punching through defensive screens and starship hulls like a hot knife through butter.  These weapons, coupled with their being bred by the billions with numerous variants, make them feared throughout the border regions of Laniakea.  If a Basilisk is spotted, the enemy has already come.

Basilisks can be either fully autonomous, or piloted.  Non-military parties should avoid them at all costs.

I love the tail. From the description, it's unclear whether these things are used BY the enemy or ON the enemy.
I like the idea of bio-weapons going feral and "embedding themselves into target ecosystems."

Thank you for the encouragement!  Rest assured, there are more evil buggers coming down the pike...

I've been trying, but so far, none of the pieces has panned out yet.  That said, I'm working on it again, now that my mojo has returned.  WATCH THIS SPACE...

Sorry.  Basilisks are bred, built and deployed BY the enemy.  Hope that helps!

And this is just the beginning of what comes out of their vatyards!

That's what I thought, but I was unsure. Can't wait for more! I especially like thinking about what happens when these things go feral.

Thanks, man!  Yeah, the Enemy are bad mutha -*shutchomouth*s.  Evil down to the core.  And that's just the minions...

The baddies (aka The Bringers of Darkness) are masters of ecocide.  Not nice people.  Nope, not one bit.

I've taken a little time to educate myself about Legend of Dragoon - thanks for telling me about it!  I haven't seen anything like the Basilisk, but I LOVE the Giger-esque armor the characters wear!  Most badass!!!

Sadly, they're a little... LARGE for a standard house.  But, hey - there may well be smaller "breeds" out there!

Really beautiful colour work blending with what I'd call all your traditional style - nice stuff, really nice.

Thank you.  It was interesting trying to do iridescence in this way.  I let the piece languish for years because I didn't believe I could get it right.  One epidural (for severe back pain) later, and I'm not only finishing this piece, but seeing that hey, my art ain't so bad! ^_^

Thanks for the encouragement - it's helping me power through new pieces!

Looking forward to what comes next.  This looks really cohesive and medium-neutral (I'm coining that term, if it hasn't been coined already) - even though it's digital there's a hint it might be traditional (ie. watercolour) and the moment the medium is uncertain like that I think people are doing their best stuff.

Thank you, friend!  I'll keep that in mind!

I know it sure FELT different as I've been working on it.  I do believe you've nailed it down.
