Thanks. It was hard to get that "shine" done and not making it look overdone or too subdued. I think I found a good balance here.

I would imagine it would be tough. I've never tried to do the 'shiny' look with Sharpies. My stuff is really, really colorful most of the time.

I have a pack of your basic colors, but I tend to stick with black since I can only travel with so many markers in my pockets. So that mentality follows me at home as well.

Yeah, I'm a Sharpie hoarder. I have 85+ Sharpies in 2 ziploc bags in my purse, 8 metallic ones, and 2 Sharpie pens. Carrying that many in pockets would be tedious. lol....black it is!

I get my boss to buy chisel 8 packs by the dozen. The bliss of working in a an after school program as the art guy. So I can do some quick work at work and not even use up my own markers.

Haha! Awesome. That is def a good way to get materials without paying for them out of pocket. Very cool that you get to work doing something you like. Wish I could!

I do like it, but it's not enough to live on. I hate to say it, but I might have to move on soon.

Yeah, whether teaching it or making it.

Exactly. I get very jealous of ppl that make it big on Etsy for doing the smallest of things. You look at some of that stuff and go, "I could have done that!".

In this day and age, someone is still willing to call herself Batgirl? Oy.
And thanks.

Because there's precedent? I dunno--in reality, someone dressing up as a bat and not dying the first night out, let alone inspiring entire generations of crime-fighters, is inherently silly enough that one doesn't even think about it. Not to mention that Stephanie's, like, 19 at the most.

Is it Bruce's goal to endanger as many of Gotham's youth he possibly can? Father of the year. he won't win.

Well, he's raised at least three kids so far, two of them became superheroes, and the other was badly damaged before Bruce could really get to him. Plus Stephanie was one that he specifically tried to keep off the streets, except for the one time she became Robin, which I try to avoid since it's become evident that Bill Willingham can only write stuff that isn't shit when it's called Fables.

"Bill Willingham can only write stuff that isn't shit when it's called Fables."
That seems to be the consensus on him. Surprising, because he's so damn good at Fables.

Yeah--I mean, I can't say I've read everything of his, but I've read his Robin (a good Steph, but the whole thing centered on MASSIVE Bat-dickery), his JSA (had some bright moments, but overall very dull and forgetable), and DCU: Decisions (the less said the better--though Judd Winick also has to share the blame for that), and can't compare to Fables. In fact that's what took me so long to get into that book--I couldn't believe the same guy who wrote those things could write that.
But I guess there are writers who are only good with their own, created characters. I think Robert Kirkman's another good example of that.

For Kirkman, I haven't read anything from him that he didn't create. Expect that one issue where Spider-Man and Invincible teams up.

I read Marvel Zombies--which pretty much played out the most horrific things that could be done in a 616 zombie apocalypse for laughs and it got old REALLY FAST.
Then there was Ultimate X-Men, where he created Ultimate Cable. ULTIMATE CABLE. Bringing that monstrosity in really just destroys the point of having an Ultimate universe, IMO.
Finally, there was Irredeemable Ant-Man--I guess he succeeded in that he meant to have the biggest douchebag superhero in history, but it didn't succeed in making me want to continue reading it unless it included said Ant-Man's gruesome murder for 22 pages. Ed Brubaker's pretty much the only one who wrote that character into something I liked so far.

Oh, I read all those, an all those were forgettable. So your theory sounds reasonable.
