Oh! I shouldn't have forgotten Ex-Death's Ex Burst. It was one of the best before Feral Chaos ever joined the cast. That was the original "blackout" finish. Β
I would use Ex-Death more if only I knew how to use his blocks more effectively.

Yeah some of them are awesome, I kept meaning to get the Kingdom Hearts-related ones. I also never got round to playing the prologue that unlocks Aerith as an assist. Maybe I'll have to look it up again after all xD

Hmmm... not sure, I guess I got it in late 2008... Five years! Wow. O_o It also has some kind of darkening pixel zones in corners, don't know what the hell is it, but it visible only on lighter colors or gray.Β

DISSSSHHHHHCHHHHRRRRRDDDD....!!!
I just beat this guy's boss form in Labyrinth in the final cloister (took a while).
Gotta say though, Havok Soul isn't that great an accessory setup.

I use a "slightly different/less risky" method to beating him.
Iai Strike is dangerous since it reduces your Defense to 0.
I like to use builds that boost Defense as high as possible and use specific rule sets.
I also use...erm... "questionable items" (sometimes, though not in official matches).

Questionable items? Like what? I'm intrigued. Could those be very powerful Artefacts?
π: 0 β©: 1
darkside-ky In reply to Nick-Ian [2013-08-31 21:36:00 +0000 UTC]
It's not something like an Artefact that can be obtained as an item through normal means.
It's actually enemy-exclusive stuff that normally only Mannikins or bosses equip, but with a little understanding of Booster mechanics turns a character into something short of a "God" in the game.
Obviously such accessories are banned in normal matches, but even then... it is possible to win with persistence and plenty of EX Breaks or Assist Breaks with the right Ruleset in place.
There's also an "unorthodox/normally impossible" way to get to Level 200.

Okay let me be more explicit:
There's several "Enemy exclusive" accessories (though I normally only use a few of them).
--Wakening Darkness (Booster Item, after 60 seconds you get a x90 Accessory boost)
--Troubled Soul (gives you a TON of Assist Meter up until you decide to enter EX Mode or the above booster kicks in. You can work around it if you use an EX Core centric build where you only enter EX mode from the Core and not through EX Force).
--Gateway to Despair (Def/Atk+5, boosted by x90 above to astronomical amounts) meaning you have a ton of Attack and Defense.
Then some basic things:
--Pearl Necklace (EX Absorbtion boost)
--Angel's Bell (Regen boost)
--EX Range Intake equip (I forget the name)
--Safety Bit (lol 90% chance to get 1 HP left no matter what)
You can add Genji Equipment's "Soul of Yamato" + Angel's Bell for super Regen in EX Mode which nets you 8k HP every few seconds until EX Break or until you run out of meter or use EX Burst. Full HP will give you 8k Brave after that.

Holy shit. I've been playing Dissidia for years and I've never heard of all these! Thanks so much - it all sounds so cool!Β
We're talking about accessories in Dissidia Duodecim, right? 'Cause I haven't encountered Wakening Darkness, Troubled Soul and Gateway to Despair. How do you get these? Or are you playing a Japanese version of Duodecim? Anyway, I forgot where you could get the Genji set. Do you purchase them? Or get them in a gate somewhere?

This is the U.S. version of Dissidia Duodecim.
The Genji set you have to make yourself. The parts to make it are in Scenario 000.
You have to buy the Heike set and Samurai Spirit items to make the Genji set.
Heike's Helm/Armor/Glove/Blade you buy for KP at the Moogle shop nearest Elfheim (the snowy area south of Cornelia), it's near where the Sephiroth Mannikins are. Take the Teleport stone there and head East along the southern coast and clear the gate that's in the way as you go (Level 60 party at least). I usually buy two sets of Heike because the Heike set alone is very powerful on its own.
The Samurai Spirit items cost a lot of KP but you get them in the Secret Moogle Shop in the Land of Dischord (back behind the gate with the mesa rockwall near the Kuja Mannikins).
You buy those and refine them to Genji equipment in the shop. Be sure to make sure all of Gilgamesh's item drops are enabled beforehand (Giant's Hopes/Dreams/Desire), you unlock Gilgamesh's Report after beating the shadow of Desperado Chaos in the Lufenia Gateway treasure box (also don't forget to clear the Report and buy the associated stuff from PP catalog).
To get past Level 120 enemies, you'll need booster items from the moogle shop that sells them (20 levels or higher), also I suggest using an accessory that recharges your Summon stones as you'll be using Asura, Ramuh, Rubicante, and Syldra to negate enemy summons (Ultima Weapon/Omega) a lot.
As for "enemy-exclusive" stuff I mentioned, your only hope is cwcheat codes, since these items will NEVER drop from any Ghost or Friend battle EVER. Closest items you can get instead of them are the "breakable" items like the Qu'bia stuff you win in the Labyrinth. (Don't forget you have to make/equip a Super Ribbon to make the most out of those items too).
I have the codes for these items, but you'd need cwcheat installed on your PSP to run the codes, then turn them off right away.

Oh and don't forget, equipping breakable items on a Ghost Friend Card of yourself means you can duplicate those items as much as you want...so you can get 99 of any breakable item that way so long as you fight the ghost and get them that way.

darkside-ky In reply to Nick-Ian [2013-09-03 00:56:43 +0000 UTC]
Any "breakable" items are generally useable in two of Scenario 000's gates:
---The gate by the bridge near Cornelia (near the Moogle shop with the Summons).
---The gate past the area where you found the Moogle selling Heike's equipment.
Inside these gates there will be a pad that says "Accessories Protected" you can equip monster setups on there without a Ribbon/Super Ribbon and they will NEVER break! No matter the percentage rate.
Otherwise, equipping a Ribbon (Level 60 req.) gives you a -20% reduction to breakable stuff, and a Super Ribbon gives you -30% reduction.
So that means:
100% Breakable > Normal Ribbon > 80% Breakable Chance (20% chance it won't break)
30% Breakable > Normal Ribbon > 10% Breakable Chance (20% Chance it won't break)
100% Breakable > Super Ribbon > 70% Breakable Chance (30% chance it won't break)
30% Breakable > Super Ribbon > Will NEVER break!
Any% Breakable > Accessories Protected > Will NEVER break!
This includes any Diamond Accessories you get, like Diamond Ring that boosts how much AP you earn to learn your abilities.
Diamond Set/Accessories > AP boost
Gold Set/Beckoning Cat > AP/PP/Gil boost
Also anything that says "breaks on use" typically won't break on the Accessories Protected pad unless it's a life saving item, but you can always use Safety Bit for that.

It's probably not that easy to find.
It'd be easier if I just told you it was via cwcheat codes/PSP modding.
