Wednesday's here, folks!

And with it a new warm-up/study that I conjured up in the half hour/forty minutes I allow myself to do these things before tackling the real work. As complex or detailed as these pieces might seem (I've heard praise about their quality through Notes ), it's always good to remember that they're exceedingly small, given the standards I work with in my commissions and projects. Thus, the less space to cover, the faster it gets.

As I've said countless times, I usually watch movies in the background while I work as I've found they help me get into 'the zone' much better and more eften than not, also provide me with some really interesting ideas for camera angles, shots and lighting. Last night, I went back to one of my favorite sci-fi films: The Fifth Element.
Granted, it's got some things that can make you cringe a bit, but the whole experience of the film felt as if those european comics I used to be fascinated as kid had come to life; and according to what I've read, it was director Luc Besson's idea. The landscapes, the clothing, the atmosphere all conspired to look like a moving Moebius illustration, which I never thought could be done in cinema (or at least, not at that point in time).

It also didn't hurt having Milla Jovovich play the perfect being Leeloo, which is the specific subject of my warm-up here today
