*Edit: I went ahead and did some more work on this and I'm very happy with the changes. I darkened the background, as well as the grass. I also added some more white to both the tree and the fox.
Here's another stippling piece! I've been working on this on and off for just under a year now.
I like how it came out. Though I am wondering if the shades of tree, background and grass are all too similar. Maybe I should darken the sky and grass some more. What do you all think?
Size: Measures roughly 8 1/2 x 11 3/4 inches which includes a border (the same earthy color as the paper), just over 1/2 inch on each side.
Materials: Micron pens, colored pencils and white gel pen on toned Earthbound recycled paper.

i think this looks absolutely incredible!! i think it would be nice to darken the sky and grass if you wanted more of a contrast, but just remember, however you decide to shade it, its still amazing!!!!Β

Yeah, the funny thing is I spent so much time staring at it up close I didn't notice the contrast issue until I had it posted. I've almost finished updating it. ^.^

I love how it came out but I agree that the tree, grass, and sky are all very similar in shade. So maybe darkening up the parts you wanted to darken would help a lot because they all sort of blend together

I've already started the darkening process, so I'll have it updated soon! I'll have to let you know when I have it finished. I couldn't actually put my finger on what was bothering me about it until I got it all up and posted on here.

yeah that's how it usually goes for me too, haha. I've taken to the idea of uploading my images to my computer and manipulating them by turning them grey scale or sepia so i can see color flaws. I have yet to do it but I hear it's a great success

That could be interesting. I know yours is titles 9 tailed fox spirit, but I assume its a kitsune cause thats what they are. But Kitsune have endless possibilities. One being the fact that they can have 1-9 tails. They gain a tail after 1000 years of existence. And then they can also use magic and pull tricks and use fox fire. So it would be cool to maybe research them and incorporate some aspects of their legend.Β

Fox fire, eh? That would be neat. I've also had this (possibly silly) thing floating in my head for a while now of a phoenix "dancing" with a unicorn. Dancing is the best word to describe the image in my head. Almost like an embrace.

I hadn't considered a black unicorn, but it is a neat idea. Though when I think black I usually actually do dark purple or indigo blue.
