Description
This is my submissions for the newest =exceeds "Holy" Release and at the same time my Advent Calender entry. Multi tasking
As for the piece itself:
I was always fascinated with russian icon paintings and saints and thought this release might be the perfect opportunity to create something along those lines - a modern version of the old classics.
As for the saint. I chose βGabrielβ which was portrayed sometimes as a woman when he was depicted as a messenger.
Stock I used for the angel is the beautiful *lockstock
and my own sources.

I saw this before and meant to comment, but I don't think I did. I like your monochromatic color scheme and the texture of the background, but what I love is the writing around the figure. The shape of the individual letters looks more decorative than writing-like, kinda foreign, which fits. A bit like arabic maybe?

The colors work quite well, and there is a lovely circular motion in the picture that keeps your eyes in the piece, very nice and expertly.
Plus, she's naked. So that naturally makes interests interesting for strange people, like me, one might say, but not really.

wow, an amazing piece - the colors are in harmony, and tracing the outlines is quite a tricky method to help the figure to come out of the great background!

Yeah, Orthodox Christian icons are a strong source of inspiration. Each time I go to the church, I decide to make something icon-inspired and forget about the decision right away.
Anyway, this is gorgeous. Also reminds me of antique postcards. Amazing colors, too.
