Description I made that Render ages ago, but lately I'm spending a lot of time converting items from Lightning Returns. So this is a little thing to say: I'm still here!

In other words, you're awake, up and out of bed, down the street, and pinching $20 from our back pockets! LOL!!! :-D

Yeah, something like that, but I think it were a bit more than 20 bucks.

I also like the way you did the reflection, along with the whole dark + emissive light atmosphere.

I have to say, that Blender did a lot here by itself. I only used a slightly bent wall with a dark color and a bit of reflection and then added the emissive nodes to Odins materials. And in the end Odin was enough illumination for the whole picture. What I haven't found out yet, is how to render glass or crystal properly. >.<

I still have to understand how to create such a great reflection XD
But same here, I am trying to understand how to render crystals and eventually water/fire.

I looked for a few tutorials for rendering crystal but so far it never worked on the crystallized Lightning. But I'm probably just too impatient and want to get it done the first time already. Fire and water would be cool as well - especially rain effects.

The reflection here is actually quite simple. sta.sh/0pjzzmw6bb I made that for Danniella ages ago. I think you can ignore everything but the last panel might be interesting, since it's the node-setting I use for my backgrounds most of the time. If you turn the value of the glossy to 0 and those of the Mix-Shader to 1 you can create a mirror-effect that is absolute like the one here: fav.me/d684770 (One of my first Cycles-Renders... I think that one needs a rework ) By playing around with the values a bit you can get something like I had on the pictures with Odin.

Ohhhh thank you!! I will try that!
I actually obtained a nice reflection effect in this render here sumirehaikuxna.deviantart.com/… , though I like the opaque version in your Odin render. I in fact used a different way for the floor, Cycles only needs trials and errors I suppose

Yupp, a lot of trial and error actually but I like Cycles a lot and since I have no other alternative like Keyshot or 3DSMax I'll just bite myself through. So far I got the results I wanted most of the time - sometimes sooner, sometimes later.

I had tried Keyshot, but didn't really like the interface. I prefer Max or Cycles indeed (though Cycles is the best one for me)
