So cool! I love how serpent's part that is closer to us is more saturated and the rest is slowly fading into blue β₯ I mean, I know that that's the way supposed to be, but it's cool to see it used so well in an artwork β₯ and the creature itself looks amazing β₯

I just finished drawing a sea serpent myself. Without tracing or directly using it, mind if I reference the pose and scene?

Of course you can! If you use a picture as reference just mention it in the description of your artwork. ^^
I think itΒ΄s exactly as you said, as long as you donΒ΄t trace it or do the exact same serpent in the same scenery the exact same way itΒ΄s fine. No one has a copyright on a pose or the look and feel of a scene. I mean if we go there no one will be able to do art anymore, there is no scenery or pose that hasnΒ΄t been used somewhere before. 
Also if you like my artwork enough to do something similar - for me that is mission accomplished.
