[ P E R S O N A L I T Y ]
Ari is normally a quiet and calm person. He believes in speaking less and doing more. He is also diligent and he is quite an intellectual as well. He may also seem aloof and almost indifferent at anything, but it was just him being quite careful and watchful around people. People might also think he is cold... which he is somewhat to an extent, but when someone has become closer to him, he can be the sweetest and most caring friend a person could ever have, albeit awkward sometimes. Once you have gained his trust, his loyalty is absolute. The downside is he is quite the jealous and possessive fellow, but he tries to hide it since he doesn't want to be a bother. He also doesn't have a lot of self-confidence and is prone to self-doubt. He seems to believe in the people whom he is close to, but he doesn't have the same regards for himself.

It was a cold night of October, and a newborn baby boy in a cardboard box was left at the gates of an orphanage. The infant cried as he seemed to search for a familiar warmth, and with a little luck left, a woman from the orphanage was approaching the gates to check if it was locked as it was supposed to be. As she heard cries, she immediately runs to the direction of the sound and sees that it was coming from the cardboard box. She opens the gates, getting a glimpse of what's inside the box -- an abandoned baby. She knew perfectly well that when a baby is left at the orphanage, they are most likely going to be under their care from now on. She picks up the boy in her arms and tries to calm him down. She sees the word 'polaris' in the box, and decides to name the baby 'Ari'.

After 5 years, Ari grew up to be socially awkward. He doesn't like being around the other kids and would end up calling them mean names even if he doesn't want to. He just feels a bit panicky in crowds and that is his first response. So that made him quite the not really likeable kid in the orphanage, but he was fine that way-- though some kids still tried to have him play with them even if he said 'no'.

One day, he was being chased by the other kids. He didn't want to deal with them or be a bully again, so he just ran away from them to a much secluded place where in he knew that it was impossible for the other kids to find him. They say that the attic was off-limits since it was dusty and there are a lot of spiders up there. What kid would be interested with a storage place? So he decided it was the perfect hiding spot. As he went up the last flight of stairs, he hears distant sounds echoing from the attic. Being a kid, those sounds attracted him. He softly went up the stairs and peeks at the small crack at the door to check what that was about. It was some kid he had never seen before pressing on some keys on a dusty old piano. He knew that that looks like a piano from the picture books he read from the educational books stash near the toy boxes. He wasn't actually a musical prodigy, so hearing the lad by the piano play random tunes was like music to his ears. He enjoyed those notes tripping and molding into a mishmash. He wanted to approach the kid, but he was afraid he might say something bad and make him cry like the rest of the children who tried to play with him. So he just remained watching the kid from a distance, and he always did... for years and years.

He never knew his name, but he knew that everyone else doesn't see him for some reason. He grew up more along with the piano kid, and so he knew he wasn't a ghost. Ghosts can't grow up, right? That's what he read from the books when he researched. Everyday he would watch from afar. He always saw him by himself, just as he is always by himself as well. Having similarities made him even more curious and fascinated of the kid. As the piano kid became even better at playing, he was drawn even more into him. Through his observations, he noticed that this kid never talked. He must be mute then? He figured. He wanted to have the courage to ask him his name, but his self-doubt ate at him yet again. And before he knew it, more years of wasted opportunities passed him by.

He was 11 years old and it was what the caretakers say as a special day. They said they would find themselves a home and a family that will love them and take care of them. That day was nerve-wrecking and he was afraid that these would-be parents would think of him as a problem child, so he just escaped the meeting to read more books and have some alone time... or maybe watch the piano kid play again. He then guessed he wouldn't be there since it was that day. But it wouldn't hurt to check if he was at the attic again? So he does so, and to his disappointment, he wasn't there. With that realisation, he runs down the stairs and goes back to the place they were supposed to stay while being interviewed by interested foster parents. He wasn't there too. He then decides to go out of the main building, and as if it was both the bad and right timing, he sees the piano kid walking along with a woman in a wheel chair and heading out of the gate. He... looked happy, and at the sight, he smiled as well too. It was both of happiness... and loneliness. But he really was happy for him.

After some more years, he realised that he was never going to be adopted,and he was actually fine with that. And now being even more matured than before, he figured out what he wanted with his life. He chose to stay and help with the orphanage. And he also realised some things in his life that he regretted never doing. He wished he had the courage.. but he knows he'll never see that kid again, and so he decided to dedicate his life in making the kids feel like they are not alone and that they will meet their family someday, just like piano kid. He made sure no one is being neglected and he treated the kids like his own children. It was all going smoothly.. until the unfortunate day came.

He was a bit exhausted after cleaning the rooms, but he was happy to help out. He took a break and sits down with some of the children by the tree. As per usual, some of the girls would play on his hair and braid it. A girl excitedly holds up a hair tie to show it to Ari as she was about to finally tie the braid into place. Ari blinks at the weirdness of the hair tie. Maybe it was just his imagination? He checks again and it was still there. He pales as he remembers something about this... abnormality. He stands up from where he is seated and immediately goes to tell one of the women in the orphanage about it. He knew this thing he has should be gotten rid of... and he has to get cured so he can be with the people at the orphanage again.

By that day, some men from the Facility fetched him. The children went to him and all of them were crying as they hugged on Ari. They are the reason that he wanted to come back... and so he wants to have this thing he has to be erased. He promised he would be back soon, and the children held his promise with high hopes. He calmly went with the Facility men with that promise in mind. And with that he was brought to the Facility. He undergone much of the procedures and with each session, memories seem to get vaguer and vaguer until he is a clean slate. The only thing he remembers is his name.

And in a blink of an eye, it has been two years since then. Faces of the people whom has a special place in his heart have all been a blur. He was losing sight of what was important... and is also losing all hope.
