Yuichi is creative and artistic because of his very active imagination. His head sometimes wander and float in the clouds which makes him a bit absentminded at times. Yui is selfless and faithful -- always willing to help others without asking for anything in return. He is very loving towards people whom he holds close dearly in his heart and likes to take care of them to the point that sometimes he can be very smothering. He is also sensitive to people's feelings and will always sympathize with them that sometimes he thinks of others' well-being before his own. Since he is a very affectionate guy, sometimes he can be very clingy, but he will back off if he is told to do so. He is moody and his mood swings are unpredictable, like one minute he is happily laughing, the next he will be grumpy and irritable. Despite him believing in other people's abilities, he has low self-esteem and is doubtful of his capabilities. He always see himself as unworthy and that he will always be not good enough which makes him humble.

Biography:

Yuichi was born in a middle-class family. The Otoya family is actually a very happy and loving family. Mr. and Mrs. Otoya are very understanding and nurturing parents that they make sure that their children grow up to be as understanding and caring as they are. Sayuri, his older sister and 8 years older than him, is very loving and protective, and will always look out for her brother no matter what. They are a very close-knit family and will always support each other.

In elementary school, Yui is that kid everyone depends on whenever they needed help... though sadly, others abused his selflessness. He was bullied also for being soft-spoken and well-disciplined to the point that some would call him 'Yuiko' or 'Yui-chan'... nicknames that he hates with passion up to this day. Some bullies took too far and made him wear the girls' school uniform. When his parents found out, they transferred him to a new school. But all the schools he transferred to, the same thing happens -- He gets bullied and leeched on by some of his classmates. His parents then decided to home school him until he reached middle school. Being at home most of his childhood, he always helped his mother in cooking their meals, and gradually he became very fond of cooking and sees it as his passion and hobby.

In middle school, he finally enrolled to a local public school and made some friends. He also learned to be less considerate of others since it always ends up badly... for him, that is. He also found out his love for art because of his art teacher who comforted him in his first week at the school (since he is still having a hard time adjusting to the new environment). He sketched on his notebooks in his alone time... his subjects are mostly sleeping students and the smiling faces of his classmates. He learned realism through his art teacher. His middle school years started a bit rough but in the end, it went fine. His above average grades qualified him to enroll in Hakone Academy, his big sister's Alma Mater.

Everything was actually going well for Yui until that tragic day. The Otoya family was involved in a car accident. Him, his mom and his big sister were badly injured (he has some scars on his back), and sadly, his father was the casualty. Yuichi lost his father at the age of 16. They were very devastated, but it never made them fall apart. They continued to cherish their memories with him and his teachings.

Now he is in his senior year. He is doing well for the past 2 years. Though he is sad that Ryuu, his best friend and only friend, had to transfer to London since his parents are going to work there. They still talk through Skype though. Despite that, he is excited for the new school year and semester since he is the new president of the school's Cooking Club.

Now, he awaits for new friends and new experiences. He promises himself that he will make his last year at high school the most memorable year of his life yet.
