When I was a little kid, my only encounter with Where the Wild Things Are was a poster on my dentist's waiting room wall, the one where Max and the monsters are hanging down from the trees. It scared the hell out of me then.Fast forward to 2009, where I spot the Where the Wild Things Are movie trailer. I was totally captivated by the art direction, and after re-watching it for what felt like a hundred times, I decided to order the book off Amazon. It's an enchanting little story. In hindsight I don't quite understand why the wild things creeped me out so much as a boy; Maurice Sendak's illustrations make them look like friendly fellows after all. I wish I hadn't discovered the story so late in my life.

As a kid, I was completely enchanted by Where The Wild Things Are, and I prayed for the movie not to suck- and I was heard. 
Also, this picture is amazing

YESS. My relationship with Where the Wild Things Are was incredibly similar (including the dentist office, rofl. I remembered it vaguely as one of those quintessential kid books, but personally it holds a lot more significance to me now that I'm older. :>

I saw a movie trailer for this when I went to see Ponyo and the monsters were really creepy looking. LOL. Looks like a great movie though and nice art btw.

It really is such a great book.
Disney was going to do it in the early 90's but it fall through. I think you find a bit of the work on youtube now adays. I can't wait for this live action movie. It seems so different yet beautiful.

One of my favorite books as a child. I actually did a paper on the art of it in my art history class this past semester, haha... looking forward to the movie
