Description I have this floppy drive by my computer and realized that it looks similar to my Mac Mini, so I figured it would make a pretty funny pic.

The CD is Killer Cuts. (Which is © by Rareware)

I was a little confused at first, but then I visited your gallery and understood. And thanks!

It would definitely add an interesting challenge to the gameplay. XD

You're welcome. As you might have guessed, the two monguins are direct descendants of both Diddy Kong and Tux. According to them, a Rareware separatist cannot handle Apple's "user-friendly" premise.

Sounds like you're way more into Rareware then I am.

I find this picture hilarious because my fan fic stars both Diddy Kong and the Linux Mascot as best friends and partners, thereby combining the Console Wars with the OS wars.

For example: there are stupid dataDynes or Viva Pinata guys that actually used Windows Vista and got rickrolled.

Why not gut the drive, and put a USB or Firewire slot-loading DVD burner in there? That would be an epic use for old hardware! ^_^

I was thinking about doing something like that, but I still can use it on my Mac Plus. (Also, I have a bunch of floppys for it, and I don't want to throw them out. )

If I still had the computer that ran MS-DOS, I would probably be able to do something like this. But I don't, as it's sitting out in some landfill.

I don't even remember if it had a 3.5in floppy drive or a 5 1/4 in drive.

That was when I was two (circa 1995). My father brought in a computer from work and none of us knew how to use it.

Yeah, I'm still trying to master DOS. Since my first computer was an Apple, I kinda missed DOS... (My first PC was a 3.1)

Daringineer In reply to nintendoloz [2009-11-24 06:56:50 +0000 UTC]

I was with DOS until 2000, when we got Windows ME. You know how the Win9x kernel (used in 95, 98, and ME) is based on DOS, right? (The version of DOS in 95 is 7, 98 is 7.5, and ME is 8.0)

Even though we thought we were rid of DOS, we still were using it without realizing it.

nintendoloz In reply to Daringineer [2009-11-24 15:20:49 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, DOS has been running most of Windows OS's, but I was talking about the original DOS. (The one where you have to type everything out, and do the coding yourself.) 3.1 was when they introduced the "point and click" style, like the original Apple computers.

Daringineer In reply to nintendoloz [2009-11-24 16:43:10 +0000 UTC]

I might have had Windows 3.1, but I never typed "win" into the command line when it worked.

Windows is awesome because if you abbreviate it you get "Win"

Oh boy, that's the Apple IIgs floppy drive that came with them. Commonly hooked up to Macintoshes, but reliability that way was unexpected because Mac OS never really had support for 5.25" disks.

nintendoloz In reply to blackevilweredragon [2009-10-07 05:39:00 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I found it in one of my boxes of my old electronics. As far as I know it still works, but I haven't hooked it up to see for sure. (I'm still looking for my CD Caddy drive...)
