I found it at a local secondhand store where they thought it was damaged. It would have been early 2009 since I took the picture a few months after.

That's great, right? That's like the cherry on a hot fudge sundae. But how would you like to play bad games AND have a headache, too?

That doesn't sound too fun at all. Would the game being played be easy on the eyes and maybe soothe the headache?

what? you don't have virtual boy wario land? that's the best game for this system!!

Well, I finally tested it.
The system's right display is broken.
Quite a letdown, though Vertical Force is still operational.

Well, even if the whole headset was broken I still wouldn't return it.
The stand alone is usually worth $60+.
It doesn't look like a difficult fix, though I really don't like dismantling anything.
Not a fan of baking computer chips, so i'll see if I can solder the thingy later.
Soon as I pay off some bills and buy a bit piece to unscrew the screws to open it.

Yeah, the whole process seems like an easy fix.
And the damage seems as natural as simple glue corrosion.
SO if anything it's just age to blame.
Regardless though, i'll need to get a game bit to open the darn thing.

I am still considering it..
I'd really just need a place to put it, as my room is already too much of a clutter.
Despite the complaints, I thought the whole red/black thing was quite cool.

Vallie In reply to nintendoloz [2014-02-02 02:02:17 +0000 UTC]
Truth be told, I would truly like to get one.
But the clutter in my room is simply unreal as it is.
Though at the same time I can't see them going down in price in the near future.
I just gotta find a badass deal I can't refuse.

Truth be told, I am just considering not getting one.
Simply because there is an emulator for the Virtual Boy, made specifically for the Oculus Rift.
And... well, I imagine it's practically the same experience.
Only minus the uncomfort and potential eye-strain.

Vallie In reply to nintendoloz [2014-02-03 12:02:31 +0000 UTC]
Truthfully, I don't remember the Virtual Boy experience too much as I only rented it once.
So whether or not it is true to the real deal is up in the air, and I was hoping someone would have had both to verify this.
As much as I love the true original Virtual Boy, given it's prices in recent eras I fear it may be more econonomical I just wait until the rift sees an official release.

Well I couldn't help myself.
See, I didn't want to wait another year (At LEAST) for the good Oculus.
I wanted to get some kind of VR fix now to hold me down.
So! I found a deal at amazon that had the console, controller, stand, just was missing the AC adapter for like.. $80 altogether?
Though I just so happen to have the AC Adapter for my SNES which now rest eternally incased in a glass PSX display unit.
I must ask though.
Will I need that battery pack thingy to connect it to?

Vallie In reply to nintendoloz [2014-02-11 12:21:54 +0000 UTC]
Well, that's good then~
The only thing they specified it didn't come with was the AC adapter.
But regardless, from my personal view, I think getting it with the legs is the hard part. (AKA the 'stand')
The listing I got apparently comes with the stand and everything else, but well i'll have to wait and see.
Also I ordered in Mario Tennis & Wario Land.
As I got Vertical Force for free long ago..
(Found it in a children's toybox at the dojo I was attending at the time and I felt it was criminal to leave it in there)
*My money says it still works too as persistant as gamecarts can be*
But! I just need to find a rediculously good deal on Red Alarm and i'm set~

Vallie In reply to nintendoloz [2014-02-14 22:32:02 +0000 UTC]
Well, it has everything, except for the AC, and the AC Tap.
So until I can get a Tap, I can just kind of use batteries.
But I think I came off fortunate considering I only paid $80 for all of it.

Vallie In reply to nintendoloz [2014-02-15 01:54:59 +0000 UTC]
I am glad to confirm, the one I got does indeed have the stand, the black end ajuster thingy, the headpiece and the controller all in fantastic shape~
Really the only thing I need now is several dust covers for Wario & Vertical Force, and to buy a Controller Tap for the AC to connect to.
In good news, when the Oculus sees release (most likely late 2015), i'll be able to do a proper comparison to see how well Oculus emulation holds up versus the real deal.

I've heard that Virtual Boy is the worst Nintendo console ever made! It causes seizures, headaches, nausea, blindness, eye strains and stiff necks. It is really bad for the eyes. It was released in 1995 only in Japan and North America including the USA and Canada and it has never been released in Europe and Australia before. Nintendo did eventually discontinue it in 1996 due to sale failure and its popularity's very low.
Thank god, I have played this before. I live in Ireland and I never saw Virtual Boy consoles or games in some shops.
Nobody wants to buy that piece of crap.
