Herp derp.Goddamnit, why can't I color?
Anyway, practicing drawing Erik from Gaston Leroux's Phantom of the Opera. Unmasked, naturally. Oh, and not wearing his wig, either. Been awhile.
I was reworking the way I draw him so I figured I'd colour it to see if I'd made any improvement in that department.
I will probably never stop drawing this guy. Seriously, not matter how long I go without watching or reading anything Phantom related, I always come back to it.
Hopefully one day I will be able to draw him in a way I find satisfactory. Until then, guess I'll keep on practicin'.
The Phantom belongs to Gaston Leroux.

And I love this pic, you did a great job on Erik. It is nice to see the expression on his face it is kind of sad and evil at the same time.

I saw this picture come up and I accidently deleted it! Of course, I had to find it in your gallery again tee hee 
I love his expression, whoever is recieving that look should be slightly terrorfied and running. I like the cape like thing that you have given him as it gives the impression of how thin he actually is, just that he is trying to make himself look more imposing and impressive. I like how his face colour is very palid and with those eyes- I can defintely tell that you like Iron Gibbet! I'm not saying that you are copying artwork, just saying that your incorporating it into your own. You might want to try making the back of the head larger to accompany his strong and long jaw line, it might make his head look a little more balanced, I don't know

Yeah, he looks pretty irate... It's strange, I didn't know what I was going for when I started his expression, it just sort of ended up that way. xD
Thank you kindly! Yeah, Iron-Gibbet's work definetly influence how I picture Leroux's phantom. I don't mind you mentioning, I know some people get really pissed when their art is compared to others, but I don't see it as a bad thing. I mean, it's even flattering, sometimes. 8)
Yeah, the shape of his cranium is always difficult for me. I don't want to make it look too bulbous, but it looks off if it's too small as well. It's definitely something I struggle with. Next time I might use some more reference. >>

I rather like how he looks here, there is something about the style that appeals to me. Somewhat cartoonish but not overly drastic in that side of the spectrum.

This is great, NitrusOxide! I think your coloring looks sharp and I like the angles of his chin and cheek bones.
I feel the same way about Phantom. I've been into it since '97 and I think I always will be. It's just one of those stories that stays with you.

What are you talking about? This drawing is great! I love the coloring you did--the overall gray and blue tone fits Erik's character perfectly.

It's my technique I'm most concerned with, when it comes to colouring, shading and all that. I have always associated Leroux Erik with black and grey and Webber Erik with red, come to think of it. It's hard to dress in a way that doesn't clash with that skin tone! Poor guy.

dunno, yours has lots of personal flair to it. Though one precaution, Erik is skeletally anorexic. Kinda remind me of this Erik [link]

Yeah, I used to be pretty big into Iron-Gibbet. Her work inspired me to start drawing Leroux Erik, actually!
Yes, he is corpse like. I figure he covers it with clothes a lot, but perhaps I could make his jawline different. I think the main thing I have trouble with is overall face shape and the cranium/back of his head.
