Description Same drawing as before but with tighter pencils and revised Photoshop colors. This has been done for over a week now, but I've been struggling with what to do with the background. I eventually just cheaped out and went with some random colors, but I might do some more work on the background later on and add that in.

I'd have rather seen this then Cyclops and Jean Grey, Cyclops was a prick, and this has a nice beauty and the beast theme to it

So cute! I love both Hank/Beast and Jean, and they are adorable as a couple, too. But I'll admit I have a certain weakness for hairy, beefy guys paired with cute girls.

This piece embodies my wishful thinking for the All-New X-Men series.

Hank and Jean are my dream couple, and your drawing of their kiss shows the beautiful culmination of a mutual love that never was. They always reminded me of the fairy tale Beauty and the Beast.

What you don't see is Scott off to the left getting ready to blast Hank off of her with his optic beams. xD

Seriously though, this is a very cute little picture...Don't they have like three kids in an alternate timeline? If not, oh well....I'm still stuck with the image of little red-haired Beastie Babies running around the mansion now. x3

It's pretty awesome isn't it? Β I'm really looking forward to seeing where they go with it and I love how it was handled in such a way that it's going to be difficult to ignore by another writer without completely resetting the entire continuity again. Β Even if the relationship doesn't last and she ends up going back to Scott, because that's who she's "destined" to be with, I just love the fact that Hank and Jean's relationship is being seriously explored. Β

Destiny is nonsense! It's time to take control of one's fate! In the comic book Ultimate FF, Ben Grimm and Sue Storm became a couple and had a daughter together! Sue actually rejected Reed and chose Ben!

I hope Cyclops remains in space for as long as possible, so they get to develop the relationship between Beast and Jean.

Unfortunately, after the events of Battle of the Atom, Jean and Beast had an argument about Jean running off with Scott, so the chances of them becoming a couple have slimmed.

The last version had that vintage style but this one is more sleek and polished to feel more finished. Love it! The little details to Hank's muscles and skin tone along with Jean's hair shine are awesome.

Do more with Hank and Jean! I'm sure you'd do awesome work with them studying together, practicing their abilities, or sitting together alone. You capture emotion perfectly.

Lots of people think Jean would have been a much better character if they had never put her with Cyclops.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

NMRosario In reply to RoCueto [2011-07-13 02:04:06 +0000 UTC]

I would agree with that to some degree. Their constant pining over each other in the original series got kind of old and, so far, every single reunification of the original team just ends up turning into "The Scott and Jean Show" within a few issues (X-Men: First Class being no exception).

I think their love for each other made the Dark Phoenix saga much more powerful, but when Jean returned in X-Factor, the whole Scott/Jean/Madelyn thing just went on waaaaaaay too long. The fact that Jean still wanted Scott after she learned that he walked out on his wife and child was extremely unrealistic in my mind.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

RoCueto In reply to NMRosario [2011-07-13 07:23:51 +0000 UTC]

I know, Scott has always been a weak character with little drive of his own, being a proxy for Charles for decades and now being a lampshaded proxy for Magneto's ways, Jean never helped, she was just sucked into the personality void, most of the time right after she had come to be somewhat interesting herself, the first issues of the Onslaught saga being the one I remember the most.

If they ever bring her back, I really hope she goes her own way

NMRosario In reply to RoCueto [2011-07-13 22:48:56 +0000 UTC]

I've been spending a lot of time trying to catch up on the X-Men continuity and, if I didn't know any better, I'd think that Marvel was grooming Scott Summers into a super-villain. If so, that would make things very, very interesting if/when Jean Grey ever returns.

I've only read a couple of issues of the Ultimate X-Men, so the Hank/Ororo relationship is a pretty new one to me and might take a while for me to digest. I originally came up with the idea of a Hank/Jean relationship back in 1993 and it's something that's never really left my mind. It just seems like a natural pairing, at least early on before Jean realized that she only had eyes for Scott.

Anyways, thanks!

chopperman69 In reply to NMRosario [2011-07-13 07:47:26 +0000 UTC]

hey thats cool i can respect that, though for me being a child of the 90s and having been introduced to the xmen by the 90s animated series the Scott/Jean relationship was kinda imprinted in my brain early on then reinforced by all the comics etc that followed so its hard for me to view Scott and Jean not being a couple (which includes the Scott/Emma thing thats been present for a while now) but i gotta say its not a bad pairing, hell how could anyone resist a hot, intelligent, caring, and super powerful red head, though out of curiosity who would you then pair with Scott and or what other xmen couples would you make?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

NMRosario In reply to chopperman69 [2011-07-14 02:08:45 +0000 UTC]

Well, I would keep the Scott/Jean relationship as it is for the most part. My idea for Hank/Jean takes place entirely within the first few issues of the original 1960s series, long before Scott and Jean ever made their feelings known to each other.

Currently, though, if Jean comes back, I would keep the Scott/Emma pairing and put Jean and Hank together (which I think would only work if Hank gets out of his current lion form). The last thing we need is several more years of Scott and Jean pining over each other via thought-balloons.

chopperman69 In reply to NMRosario [2011-07-14 06:05:26 +0000 UTC]

hmm.. i think i would agree with that, and i am glad im not the only one who hates the stupid ass cat version of hank (although when some artists make him look like an actual lion like say greg land then its bit more tolerable, but i still think he should be the blue ape we know and love)

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

NMRosario In reply to chopperman69 [2011-07-21 09:57:14 +0000 UTC]

I'm really just the opposite when it comes to lion-Beast. The less catlike he appears the more I can tolerate him. However, now that he's leaving the X-Books, I can only hope that we see him return to one of his earlier forms soon.

lmao. Awesome work as always.

NMRosario In reply to GrifterWolf [2011-07-13 01:11:35 +0000 UTC]

I actually had to look up the definition of "slash" in a slang dictionary. lol

Anyways, thanks! I do see Hank and Jean having the potential for a very meaningful relationship, especially now with the state of the X-Men as they are. Scott and Hank are alienated from each other and Scott is sleeping with Emma Frost. So, if Jean returns from the dead again, there would be no reason for Hank or Jean to return to the current X-Men team. Maybe Jean could help restore Hank back to his original human form (assuming she returns in full control of the Phoenix force) and even give him the ability to transform between human and furry at will - similar to what Marvel has done with Angel/Archangel (although if they eliminate the lion-Beast forever, you won't hear a word of complaint out of me).
