Description Gavialops is a mid sized nosaurid (known as neospinosaurs) common in wetlands. Their distinctive greenish tinge is due to symbiotic algae that grows in their iguana like scales aiding in camouflage. A bit of greenish pigment is found near the head. Dark and yellowish patterns on the sail also help camouflage gavialops in aquatic plants. Aside from a slightly larger body size and brightly coloured head, males are indistinguishable from females. Pairs of gavialops build bird like nests in which to incubate their eggs. Gavialops are excellent swimmers with their tail affording them great speed. Unlike most other birds and dinosaurs gavialops are particularly fond of sarcodonts and are skilled in dispatching them. Their long snouts are covered in sensory pads and hard scales which help them find, and protect against sarcodonts. Individuals are often covered in scars from territorial battles and fights with their dangerous prey.
