Between the top 10 floors or so, and the floors seen below the large barrel-like structure, how are the floors arranged? In my Minecraft Midgar, the Shinra Building is giving me troubles.

Gorgeous. I'm using these as references for a story I'm writing, that is how amazing it is! I can't wait to see more.

A Beautiful render!
This inspires me to build a Midgar model of my own.
Some particles emitting from the reactors would make this thing pop!

Man...fantastic rendering of the city. Final Fantasy VII's architecture has always been, in my opinion, the best of any of the games. Fantastic work!
Even if it just remains a model, it's still very impressive.

Currently I've been doing testing in Crysis, and that'll be the game it goes into assuming nothing better comes along before I finish the model.

Truly amazing, you must be relative of the Saint Job, incredible patience o_o .
Can you give some data of the project?
Engine used? Render Time? Total vertex & poly in scene?
Very inspirational. Some months ago i started a similar project in blender, in order to learn the basics in that soft, is not as good as yours but it took me a lot of time, lol.

Hi, glad you like my work!
Ok, It was made and rendered in Maya (Mental Ray used for the newest renders), render time varies a LOT depending on what's being rendered, honestly I can't give a number atm so I'll get back to you on that one (It's not quick tho I can tell you). Total Polys, I believe last time I checked were around the 2 million mark with everything I've made in the scene visible.
Ooo that's a neato little Midgar you have there, just a bit too dark too see everything properly, but very cool none the less.

I'm surprised you hadn't used final gathering before now. It's so useful and pretty!
I hope you changed your lighting setup and materials to work with the new rendering system?
π: 0 β©: 1
NoenGaruth In reply to Nimphious [2008-12-07 04:42:02 +0000 UTC]
Yes it does produce better results, however it also increased render times dramatically >_< (We're talking hours for single frames)
Yeah the lighting and such has all been changed, materials are just always changing in general since I'm always upgrading them.

your midgar renders get better all the time. This one looks close to the style of Advent Children, if Midgar was still intact. Great Work!

incredible, but i'm waiting for the last of the sectors to be laid out. I imagine 8 will take awhile as a fair portion of it is explorable in ff7 and CC. Regardless, highly worthy of background!!
Keep up the great work

I'm not sure I like this lighting, stylistically it feels less crisp? Which is appropriate for Midgar, but my eyes are just so used to bright things.
If you didn't render it on your home computer, where did you render it? Australia must be awesome if there are just powerful computers hanging about begging for attention on street corners. *---*

NoenGaruth In reply to LinHikaru7 [2008-12-05 08:48:15 +0000 UTC]
That would be the final gathering, I've still been tweaking the settings on it and the one that kinda adds some blur to the pic was a bit high when I did this pic, tho the test render I did of the Mako Cannon today was a lot clearer.
Lol, I wish. Actually I do architectural modeling at work and I've got a pretty powerful workstation there which I've been using to do renders when I'm not using it, still Midgar brought that machine to its knees too XD.
