They deserve to be happy... and yet... you draw Rogue and have her in your favorites being with mag... who's a psychopathic genocidal mass murder who's done nothing but ruin her life and countless others... why do women like you have a thing for psychos and seeing older men who groom children or teens into brides (AoA)????

Claremont approved of Gambit and Rogue as a couple as well. I think he did anyway. If he hated them, he would have abolished them years ago. They're the second longest running X-Men couple after Cyclops and Jean. And I highly doubt the other writers would disapprove of Gambit and Rogue just because it brought in too many female readers. They would just be completely contradicting themselves. I mean, isn't that EXACTLY what they wanted in the first place? So female readers can love the X-Men just as much as male readers? That's just bs. That's like applying the same to Cyclops and Jean. And look what Marvel did to them. They really like butchering the best couples. I think the real problem here is that Gambit was originally written as a villain and Claremont wanted him as a villain, but scrapped the idea and made him good and join the X-Men instead and going on from that, none of the other writers knew where to put him. They shouldn't have messed up a great character like that. Gambit was changed for the better, not going back to being Sinister's lapdog.

I was just a kid when Remy was created. I'll be honest, I didn't like how he was replacing Longshot but I sure am glad he did. The stories we got with Scott Lobdell were brilliant. That mini-series and even the Animated series... it really made Gambit a very versatile character. Of course, they overdeveloped him while I left comics and went to college. There's no mystery left. Not to mention the attention given to such silly stuff about him. I say this because as Gambit was left baking in the oven, so was Rogue. We learned the origin - her parents, one-night stand with Eric, power control, etc. This makes me sound like a nostalgia critic but I truly believe that the best period for these characters was the Lobdell run on Uncanny. They guy made you love X-Couples. I'm forever a Scott and Jean fan because he shot them into the future on their honeymoon where they were for a decade raising Nathan and spending time with dying Rachel. Something completely skipped over by current and previous X-scribes. I really wanted to capture that happy ending with this scene. Gambit and Rogue are southern characters. They often reflect on the country (even if Remy finds New Orleans as home). With Scott and Jean, a dystopian future with their children was the perfect setting. Scott and Jean are very military-esque when you think about it. They're survivors. That's the right setting. The right setting for a pregnant Rogue and father Remy would need to be somewhere green. Somewhere they could be at peace. Something that commemorated these characters.

She's had multiple moments throughout the comics where she has gained temporarily control or complete loss of her powers in the past. And I do believe that lately, she's finally learned how to control her powers for good.

There's countless ways that could work. Not entirely sure which inspired this family shot. Could easily be set in a Universe that Rogue had a second mutation like so many mutants did. Only hers isn't turning to diamond or flights, it's the ability to control her mutation. Pick one -- many work and all could lead to this happy ending.
