I may agree with you on some point.
However, Fan-Fiction help the fan to be deeper in the charactere, like a headcanon.
My First published fan-fiction is a headcanon, with element based on myself.
My question is... Is the canon serie an illusion? And so does our work of litterature? DOES WORDS LIES?!

Anyway, I am sick of fan-fiction that destroy the canon and ruin the serie... Whoever the fan-fic writer who begin this mess is the one who clean it. Most of them are Porn, Fetish, OOC, MPreg and all of thoses sheninaghan.
That's why I respect the canon the most as possible. Because it is FAN-Fiction and a fan respect the canon. I won't to be direspectful.

For me a fanfiction is good as long as the canon characters are in character and the things that happen make sense or are well explained. Sadly there are not many of those... Most of them are an excuse to to characters you like in a relationship, canon, or not or even from other universes. Fanfictions that are for the LOLZ are OK too XD

Huh, interesting viewpoint. I definitely agree on the IC thing. OoC without reason drives me nuts to no end... unless it's whump fic as that's purely a guilty pleasure. But even then there's a certain acceptable amount of out of characterness.

Sadly I haven't found any guilty pleasure yet. I don't mind the character been a little OoC, but most of the time they are so Ooc that is nothing like the original character, is like someone else took over their bodies or something, just to "justified" why they are together.

I read fan-fictions of anything I know of but the ones I'm actually in are Kirby, Pokemon and Sonic. Sonic is the worse case I have seen so far...

Twisting the canon a little is more or less okay for me, as long as whoever does it respects the creator, tries to keep the story as close to the original as possible and does not claim that their AU is 'canon.'

Hmm, an interesting thought. I would disagree though as that dis-includes the alternate universes that ARE well written. I think most important is keeping the characters' integrity.
