Description
......Zuikaku, one of my favorite carriers from the game; I use her armored version.
I wanted to create something with a rainy atmosphere to it. Coincidentally it's also rainy season in game!

This is great. Could you share how you go about choosing colors? Do you have a reference you pick from, or do you have some photoshop layer styles magic, or do you do something else?Β

I start by painting a quick background in the colors necessary to achieve my desired setting in order to get a better feeling of what colors I should use. In this case it was rainy weather, so the colors I use was dark, desaturated to bluish colors. You can just try various values of a color until it looks like it will fit in with the current lighting you've got.
You can also look at photos with people in the setting you want so as to get an idea of how certain colors should look in that particular lighting.

I really like Zuikaku. She was my first carrier.
The amount of detail you put on this is amazing! Look at the raindrops on her sleeves, armor and bowstring! Oh, and that "rainy atmosphere" you talk about turned out perfectly! I really like the fog and the grey sea.

Beginner's luck. I just tried a standard carrier recipe and got her on my first try.
I was so new to the game I wasn't aware of Zuikaku's rarity. I didn't even know you could get Akagi as a quest reward.
