Thank you so much! I simply LOVE the color red, my gosh, it is just so gorgeous. But it was difficult making it work because steampunk has a very subdued color palette. I was so happy to find this certain red amongst my fabric collection. ^_^

Oh my gosh, totally!
Finding the exact color can totally SUCK most of the time. Ugh! ^_^ But it makes it all the more fun when a look comes together really well. ^_^ Do you have a favorite fabric?

Haha true, can be so frustrating But you're right, if it comes together and gets you that perfect endresult, that's like 'ahhh look at me! I totally nailed it, it's so awesome ! ' yeah *I totally deserve a cookie now*
Hmm no not really actually.. I looove the deep and intense colours of velvet but that's just way too hard to sew with and wear everyday So if I have to choose a favorite type of fabric I'm probably going to say, lace, brocade or jacquard or something like that But in normal day life I wear anything that looks victorian/retro inspired xD so I usually have a setlist of colours I get drawn to, like reeeeed but also black, emerald green, navy and azure blue, steampunk colours like brown/golden/creme colours and such xD So whenever I look at my closet it's quite obvious I like certain colours lol
What about you ^^? any addictions to certain types of fabrics ? or colours, except for the obvious red ofcourse

Lol yeah, mood changes, makes it hard to dress sometimes What do you wear in every day life then ? I always wonder about that if I see people here on dA that are also into the Victorian age
But yeah I really love those periods in time ^^ I even really feel like I'm born in the wrong century, hard to explain sometimes =/ so if I can't go back to the 19th century I have to bring it back to me xD Not that it's anywhere near possible to walk around in corsets and long skirts with full petticoats and hoopskirts, but a knee length skirt with a petticoat and looots and lots of (quite) tightly waisted tops and/or waist belts do the trick too Quite sursprising though, but in the 50's they kind of dressed similar to the Victorian age they also wore more tightly waisted top halfs and wider skirts (if you don't think about pencil skirts ofcourse), with petticoats and corsets underneath and matching hat and gloves to finish everything off, just awesome
So, kinda sucks to be born in this day and age lol xD Because almost everybody finds victorian clothing and/or "pin-up" clothing beautiful but when it comes down to it they still want to wear what the average commercial stores offers them. Don't understand that really
And yeah I absolutely know what you mean! gold can be super chique and classy depending on the exact tone, model and how you combine it ofcourse, because it can go wrong so fast xD like "look at my bling dude! I'm so cool! and/or Look at me! I combined it with pink so now I look like Barbie, yeay ain't I hot" lol not exactly no, but okay, whatever floats your boat

Oh my goodness! I am so sorry for not getting back with you sooner! I've been a little busy around here
That is an excellent question! What do I wear everyday? Hmmm, well when I am at home I mostly wear the usual wear something comfortable. Shorts/sweats etc. I am in love with the sailor/vintage style. So I have a TON of white and navy-blue stripe shirts. And when I am out on the town I love wearing skirts, like tailored skirts. I just love the rockabilly/vintage style so I consider that when I am preparing for the day. ^_^ But, whenever I am at home or out I always wear nice jewelry. To me that is a staple. I just love wearing, faux diamonds, pearls, exotic. I don't know, I just don't feel completely dressed without them. ^_^ Funny huh?
Oh my gosh! I totally know the feeling of being born in the wrong era!!! Yeah, what makes me love the 50's was that Dior made his own interpretation of the "romantic" eras. So hence the corsets and grand skirts etc. Love it!
How I see it (me thinking that I am born in the wrong era) is that, until I can make a time-machine, I am going to take advantage of being born in this era by dressing in all the eras that I love. It may not be everyday that I do, but conventions and fairs certainly help me express it. Because if I was in another era it wouldn't be such a novelty. ^_^
Hahaha:laugh: totally! Some times I see people wearing A TON of gold bling and it's like, "Whoa, I thought the sun had already set!" How do you like to dress?

Haha no problem, don't worry about it xD
Haha cool, so you're a sailor then ? Lol yeah the 50s can totally remind you of the victorian era if you look a bit closer And yeah, you're so right! That's the advantage of feeling like you were born in the wrong era, you can just dress in whatever you like but without the whole ettiquette and stuff that originally surrounded it xD But then again, completely dressing like a victorian lady is quite hard anyway since you can't wear hats, gloves or any overload of jewellery, and certainly not with a long skirt and petticoats/crinolines so that kinda sucks so you have to 'soften it up' anyway, with high waisted, knee length skirts and pretty frilly blouses and cameos and such
And you're right again conventions and fairs are just awesome, make you feel like you're finally in the wright place somehow ^^
Lol yeah gold can be pretty, but if you're going all gangsta on it, it's just wrong
Yeah, rockabilly is a cool way to dress if you can pull it off I also really like 40's/50's clothing myself ^^ Bettie Page and Pinup Couture make suuuuch nice things aaahh and for the rest I wear victorian- inspired outfits as I said, with lots of quite tightly waisted tops and waistbelts (to somehow replace the corsets xD) and knee/calf length skirts and such ^^ It's not how the average 20-year old dresses but I don't care, I just wear what I like and what makes me feel like everything (kind of) makes sense somehow xD But to be honest, I'd looooove it if hats and parasols would become fashionable again

Haha yeah but the dresslable named after her is even more fantasticnessish (let's start a new dictionary ) Really, Bettie Page and Pinup Couture have the most gorgeous dresses ever I'd looove to have every single one of them But then I need to win the lotery first I'm afraid xD
But lol yeah true, especially before the invention of the crinoline when they still had to get the necessary volume by wearing 6 petticoats on top of eachother.. Argh, that must have been SO heavy, highly impractical and hoooooot
Though wearing a lot of layers gives certain isolation xD But I have to say, if I'm wearing all my skirts when going to a fair, I'm not particularly saying to myself 'okay this feels cool, not hot at all ' I'm more like 'damn, sweaty legs'
Lol are you in the super hot/too hot to handle part of America ? We're hearing quite a lot on the news about certain parts of the world having very hot and dry weather, resulting in forestfires and all (sounds SO scary btw!) =/
But here in Belgium and the Netherlands and all: we're having none of that We're now having a couple of nice and sunny days again, which is actually absolutely looovely because the summer has been very crappy so far
So hmm I think the weathergods are a bit drunk or something xD Because they're nowhere even close to giving each country it's normal summer They're holding back our warmth and giving it all to you guys xD And then you get forestfires. Nice job, weatherGods, nice job. Tsssh xD
