Description Alright. FINISHED. I probably would've done a better job of getting this done on time if I had started it before November 1. I mean, that just doomed this thing to being late, didn't it? Even for late, it's actually a bit late, because I wanted to get it finished yesterday. But, this my eleventh Halloween piece in a row, and I was not going to break that streak.

Thematically, it's the same thing I've been doing for years: Halloween setting and girls in costume, but I did try lots of new ideas on how to go about that.

The devil girl was the first idea I came up with, and it's not the first time I've done a devil costume. I used a few new techniques to give her costume some shine, and it was a bit easier to work with now that I have my tablet. I'm still adjusting to using that thing, so for this outing, I mostly used it for smaller details that would just be a huge pain in the ass with a mouse. But for the most part, I'm still learning how to work with the stylus and it doesn't help that I don't have the most steady hand.

Next I have my wicked queen there. In this one, I tried to use a lot of purple to shade the black. I actually like how that worked really well. All those bits of purple on the fabric of her cape and in her leotard really give it this sort of sinister shimmer that I really dig. I took out the tablet to do a lot of the shading for this one, but for inking the lineart, I still pretty much stuck to my mouse and pen tool.

Finally I have my cave girl. Her pose and hair might resemble some character art from a very popular RPG from the '90s. . . NEVERMIND THAT! Yeah, I borrowed the pose and hair from a picture of Ayla that appears in some of the official Chrono Trigger game art. I had to work with it a bit, because originally the way I had it drawn, her right arm looked REALLY awkward in the way it was positioned and holding her club. I solved it by just moving it closer to her body and mostly obscuring the sight of her right arm. Not the most elegant solution, but it looks a damn sight better. I used my tablet here, again, for shading, and also to draw her outfit, since even though I still had kind of a shaky hand, that actually worked PERFECT for drawing a bikini made from torn pieces of animal fur. I also used the stylus to do that leopard print, because that would've been a tedious pain in the ass otherwise.

So, there you are. I hope I can better with my tablet soon, I think when I do I'll be able to make some interesting things with it. Or at least do things that I wouldn't have wanted to try with a damn mouse. And above all else, I hope I can give these girls more of a DRAWN look. Sometimes I see them and think they look a little too constructed, I don't know how to explain it.
