Utsuho Reiuji, a hell raven from Touhou shmups doing what she is best at. Blowing up things. Those who are not familiar with Utsuho or Touhou, I recommend reading Touhou wiki :[link]
I had plenty of time to work on this, too bad I can't probadly draw as many drawings I was planning to. The colours turned out to be quite fascinating. And that sun looks so bright and hot!
I ran out of RAM again while working on this! And that happened right after I had applied the flat colours... so I had to shrink the image by 20 % to be able to get it done.

I usually try to stay true to the original when I'm drawing Touhou fanart.

Yep, I like the other one too, and it's more detailed and has a more scenic/detailed background.
I also noticed that sock-length correction. (;
But it's the pose and the energy and the warm colors that sell me on this one, and that's why I like this one just a bit more. They're both great, though; they capture the notion that Utsuho is the most villain-like of all the final-boss characters, which is why she's my favorite among them.

Very Nice! I'm especially happy that you remembered that her right leg is not normal! As MrRowBoat said, you kept true to the original concept art and still made it beautiful! Make you wonder what Reimu, Marisa or Sanae were thinking when they had to fight her

Thanks! I usually prefer going with the original design, at least when I draw the character first time. It's pretty fascinating that this old piece still manages to pull viewers, although I have drawn better Utsuho already. In my opinion, that is.

HOLY banana..
Amazing! Love the complimentary use of galaxy purple and gold yellow. Her eyes explode in expression, and that "atom-electron-thing" swirling around her leg is EPIC!

Probably the best Touhou.
Weirdly though, whenever I see her one-finger-holding-flaming-death-ball pose I imagine her proceeding to dump it on Hajime Saitou. Then she taunts him in japanese and he just goes "You dropped your guard to say that. The only cure for your disease is death! GATOTSU ZEROSTYYLLEEE!!" From there it just plays out like the rest of the scene.

I like how you stuck with the original concept art done for her. Even though I do like some artist's reinterpretation of the design, they actually take away most of the symbolism behind her design which is kind of saddening. Nonetheless, I am thoroughly pleased to see you kept the original design

Yes. c: I think if someone can stay close to the original design, but improve upon the detail - that's a great accomplishment. I'm not really knocking redesigns or thinking out of the box, but it's nice to see the origins of the fandom.

Thankies! First I was going to make her cape in red colour scheme, to fit better yellow/orange colours, but ended up to make it in blue. Blue is the complementary colour of orange after all, so it adds some nice effect

I think that you are doing just great already! If you want effects like I have, just make relatively dark shades for additional contrast. And try to imagine how colourfur light tints the colours. You're good to go
