Description Copepteryx hexeris from the Late Oligocene of Japan was a 2 meter long bird belonging to the family Plotopteridae. The Plotopterids are a group of flightless prehistoric birds related to the modern day cormorants and anhingas that showed a remarkable evolutionary convergence with the penguins.
